Yesterday we got started planting our new Orchard! Thanks to Mat from @EcoSchoolssouth @KeepWalesTidy and some of our @YR5PDCS pupils who got stuck in and all had a fabulous time!

This week we've been making our own honeycomb out of wood, learning about Hexagons. Plus we've made our own paper bees to live inside!
Earlier on this week Year 4 couldn't wait to check in with our bees. After a few weeks off we were glad to see they were doing well, even in the cold weather!
We worked together this week to create a poppy wreath to remember the armed forces that served during wartime. We also remember the animals that served with the purple poppies. #ethicalinformedcitizens #WeWillRememberThem #Remembrance2023 @PoppyLegion 🌺@PDCSPrimary
Our groups are taking part in 'Spring Bulbs for Schools 2023-24'. Planting day was on October 20th. Have a look what we got up to! @PDCSPrimary @Professor_Plant
We had a really busy start to the Autumn term with our @Year1PDCS @yr2PDCS @PDCSYr3and4 @YR5PDCS @Year6PDCS groups. 🍁🍂@PDCSPrimary
More polytunnel progress this week with @PDCSYr3and4 and @Year6PDCS
Recycling cardboard as weed-proof fabric, then woodchip on top. Also, building a raised bed to go inside!
We continued working on our mosaic signs this week with @Year6PDCS and @PDCSYr3and4. Our Year 5 and 6 pupils have designed the signs that we are making. We are looking forward to seeing them displayed in the outdoor classroom. #mosaics #creativecontributors #teamwork
Our @YR5PDCS and @PDCSYr3and4 groups created the first of our mosaic signs for our outdoor area last week. Great teamwork and collaboration! Da iawn pawb! #creative #outdoorlearning 🟥🟩🟦🟨
Its been a busy few weeks in @PDCSAlternative with lots of little projects getting underway. We've started to strip out the old chicken run and turn it back into a polytunnel. Lots of rubbish, weeds, and chicken wire to remove, and there was even some time to study some wildlife!
Yesterday we said goodbye and good luck to our @Year6PDCS group. We are so proud of them and look forward to hearing about all their new achievements in Year 7 and beyond. 🎓✨@PDCSPrimary
It's been a pleasure working with this group of Year 6 pupils this year. We wish you all the best for Year 7!
@PDCSPrimary
We’ve been busy creating new minibeast habitats in our Forest School sessions this week. Recycling materials to create a wormery and exploring the field for loose parts to make new homes for insects that visit our field. @yr2PDCS @PDCSYr3and4 @PDCSPrimary #forestschool
Our minibeast topic continues with our @PDCSYr3and4 and @Year6PDCS groups! We found worms in our field and we decided to measure them with our worm ruler to see how long they were and if they were all the same length. The longest worm we found was 12cm long. #naturedetectives 🪱
We have been exploring our outdoor area with our @yr2PDCS nature detectives this week. We have discovered so many different species. We are really enjoying our outdoor learning time @PDCSPrimary @_OLW_ #minibeasts #minibeasthunt #observations 🦋🐝🪲🐞
We began making our own compost this week with our @YR5PDCS group. We are excited to see how the compost changes over the next few weeks and look forward to using it in our outdoor area to help our plants grow. 🪴🌱🥕🥔📰
Our @YR5PDCS and @PDCSYr3and4 groups have been busy planting and painting Sunflowers 🌻 They have also been learning about the different parts of a plant. #creative #observation #gardening
This week we have been learning how to build a teepee style shelter. Using our home-made tent pegs and practicing our knot tying skills. @YR5PDCS @PDCSPrimary @PDCSYr3and4
