More protection for our farmers. More demand for AMERICAN COTTON. πΊπΈπ±
In 2023 under the last administration, Brazil overtook the United States as the worldβs top cotton exporterβ¦ Weβre fighting to put American cotton BACK on top!
Today at Giesenschlag Farms in Caldwell, Texas, I met with farmers and announced TWO MORE steps forward under our Great American Cotton Plan:
β‘οΈ More flexibility to protect their crops. Beginning with the 2027 crop year, farmers will be able to combine critical coverage options on their crop insurance policies to better manage risk.
β‘οΈ More opportunities to sell AMERICAN COTTON. @USDA will oversee a trade program that will lower tariffs on clothing made with US cotton from Bangladesh, Indonesia, Cambodia, and Malaysia β giving these major textile producers a clear incentive to BUY AMERICAN.
Our growers work too hard to be left behind. Under @POTUS, weβre fighting to lower their costs, expand their markets, and keep their family farms strong.
Thank you to Giesenschlag Farms for hosting and every farmer who joined us. We have your backs!
Cotton's challenges don't stop at the farm gate.
Drought, failed acres and years of negative returns are putting tremendous pressure on High Plains producers. The impact reaches lenders, cotton gins, local businesses and entire rural communities.
The future of cotton is everyone's business.
And after 70 years of promoting and protecting the cotton producers of the Texas High Plains, we know one thing.
We fight best when we fight together.
#cottonfuture #collaboration #texas #highplains
Through drought, uncertainty and challenges beyond their control, farmers are working.
They show up. They persevere. They plant again.
Because farming isn't just what they do. It's who they are.
Today, and every day, we honor the men and women whose determination keeps agriculture moving forward.
Happy National Farmers Day from Plains Cotton Growers.

One of Tama Cotton Wrap's special anniversary bale wraps turned up in Ackerly, Texas, this week, on the Staggs family farm! Only 25 of these were produced to celebrate America's 250th anniversary. Thanks to Farmers Co-op Gin (Ackerly) Manager Bryan Nichols for the photos!
Cotton has never been an easy crop.
It has weathered drought. Markets. Rising costs. Changing policies. Changing times.
And still, every year, producers put seed in the ground believing in what comes next.
Thatβs the story of cotton worth telling today.
On World Cotton Day, we celebrate more than a crop. We celebrate the people who keep choosing it, fighting for it and building its future β one season at a time.
Cotton is resilient because cotton people are resilient.

And today on #WorldCottonDay, we celebrate the farmers who grow it and the many ways the crop impacts our lives.

It was GREAT to welcome leaders and members from Plains Cotton Growers and Texas Farm Bureau to Washington, D.C., this week!
Texas agriculture is the BACKBONE of communities across our state, and Iβm PROUD to stand with the farmers, ranchers, and producers who work to feed and strengthen our nation.
Iβll continue fighting in Washington to make sure the voices of Texas agriculture are heard LOUD AND CLEAR!

I met with cotton producers and representatives from Plains Cotton Growers and the Arizona Cotton Growers Association to discuss the issues facing farmers across Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, and Arizona.
Cotton producers are dealing with high input costs, market uncertainty, weather challenges, and tight margins. They need a strong farm safety net, a farm bill that gives producers certainty, and policies that support American-grown cotton.
I voted for the Farm, Food, and National Security Act, and I am a cosponsor of the Buying American Cotton Act, which supports U.S.-grown cotton and domestic textile production.
I will continue working with agriculture leaders to support producers, strengthen rural communities, and protect the farmers who help feed and clothe our country.

I reread this every year.
I cry like a baby every year.
Todd Beamer died a father, husband, and hero.
Todd: Helloβ¦ Operatorβ¦ listen to me. I canβt speak very loud. This is an emergency. Iβm a passenger on a United flight to San Francisco. Our plane has been hijacked.
Lisa: I understand. Can they see you?
Todd: No. There are three that we know of. They have knives β razor knives, like box cutters. Someone announced from the cockpit there was a bomb. It sounded fake.
Lisa: Your name?Todd: Todd Beamer. United Flight 93.Todd: They killed one passenger in first class. They forced most of us back. Fourteen of us here. Five flight attendants. The guy with the bomb ordered us to sit on the floor.
Lisa: Are you okay?
Todd: Weβre going downβ¦ wait. No. Weβre leveling off. We changed directions. Weβre flying east again.
Todd: A guy named Jeremy called his wife. She told him two planes hit the World Trade Center. Lisa, is that true?
Lisa: I have to tell you the truth. Itβs very bad. Both towers are gone. A third plane hit the Pentagon. Our country is under attack. Iβm afraid your plane may be part of their plan.
Todd: Oh God. Lisa, will you do something for me? Call my wife and my kids. Promise me youβll call.
Lisa: I promise.
Todd: Our home number isβ¦ You have the same name as my wife. Lisa. Weβve been married ten years. Sheβs pregnant with our third child. Tell her I love her. Iβll always love her. We have two boys β David, heβs 3, and Andrew, heβs 1. Tell them their daddy loves them and he is so proud of them. The baby is due January 12th. I saw an ultrasound. We still donβt know if itβs a girl or a boy.
Lisa: Iβll tell them. I promise, Todd.(Lisa patches in the FBI.)
Agent: Todd, your plane is on a course for Washington. Best guess is the White House or the Capitol.
Todd: I understand. Iβll be back.
Todd: Everyone knows this isnβt a normal hijacking. We have decided we will not be pawns in their plot.
Lisa: What are you going to do?
Todd: Four of us are going to rush the one with the bomb. Then the cockpit. A stewardess is getting boiling water. Weβll take them out.
Todd: Would you pray with me?They pray the Lordβs Prayer. Then: Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for thou art with me.
Todd: God help me. Jesus help me.Are you guys ready? Letβs Roll.

Keith Patrick, a proven relationship builder and mainstay in the Lubbock community, joined the PCG staff on August 3, 2026, as the Vice President of Government Affairs and Policy Analysis.
Patrick comes to PCG with a long track record of advocacy at the local and state levels, focusing on public education and infrastructure issues. His agricultural advocacy foundation was built while earning his masterβs degree in Agricultural Communications at Texas Tech University, which involved an internship with former Congressman Mike Conaway.
βIβm so excited to be joining PCG and coming back home to agriculture,β said Patrick. βWest Texas remains the world leader in cotton production, and PCGβs advocacy work is vital to ensuring our region can continue to compete in a global market and is supported by policymakers at all levels.
Iβm deeply grateful to be trusted by our producers and infrastructure to represent their interests in Austin and Washington, D.C. This is a dream come true.β
Originally hailing from Goliad, Texas, Patrick has called Lubbock home since 2001. He enjoys camping, fly fishing, live music, and exploring national and state parks with his family. He and his wife Kristin, a fifth-grade teacher, have been married since 2014. They have one daughter, Emerson, who is entering fourth grade and loves to dance, craft, and play basketball.
βWe are proud to have Keith join our staff,β said PCG CEO Kody Bessent. βPCG is proud to serve our producers and infrastructure and is always seeking ways to elevate that service. We are confident Keithβs addition will be valuable to our industry throughout our region, state and nation.β
