P. Wealleans here. I am resigning from PACTPOW effective immediately. I want to thank the members of PACTPOW, esp J. Dies and P. Kuebler, Ajax Council, esp the previous Council led by Steve Parish, Dr. M Auer, Ajax staff, esp the 2 Rachaels and Christie.

Also thanks to all those concerned citizens who signed petitions, came to meetings, open houses, sent letters to the powers that be, and supported PACTPOW in our efforts. As Chevy Chase used to say on SNL, “Good night, and have a pleasant tomorrow”.
WRT the algae decision. Not going to go into detail about the decision and letter. There are a number of points to take issue with but will focus on one condition. An Advisory Committee will be struck to do more studies and monitoring. This is a joke.

Its like closing the barn door after the horse has bolted. The Region has been given the OK to do what it wanted. An Advisory Cmtee to do do research that the Town has completed?
The Min of the Env has released his decision that tertiary sewage treatment will NOT be imposed at the Duffins Creek sewage plant. The Town, PACTPOW and concerned citizens have been requesting it for 10 years to solve the proliferation problem of algae along our waterfront.

This is very dissapointing. The Town and its scientific research show that the plant IS the main point source for phosphorus that feeds the algae. The decision makers put their heads in the sand and hope the problem will dissappear. It wont.

For 8 years, PACTPOW has been fighting the Region of Durham to clean up the Ajax shoreline from algae from the DC Sewage Plant and we have met with decision makers: Jim Bradley, Kathleen Wynne, Rod Phillips - requesting, with scientific data backup, to get them to do it!

PACTPOW met with Rod Phillips, Min of the Env, yesterday. A frank discussion. No decision has been made on tertiary treatment for the Duffins Crk plant yet. We remain optimistic as our scientific evidence , we believe, is irrefutable. The Mnister understands our position.

#Top10 things you need to know about #Bill66 2. It threatens our drinking water. It would trump policies meant to protect existing & future sources of municipal drinking water from threats such as sewage, pesticides & more. #StopBill66 Learn more: ontarionature.org/campaigns/…
Citizens, members of environmental groups, including PACTPOW, protested at the constituency office of Rod Phillips, Minister of Environment against Bill 66 today in Ajax. If passed in its current form, Bill 66 will allow developments that can bypass env and planning requirements.

Happy 2019 New Year. Another photo of our blue ball from Apollo 8 from 50 years ago. This is all we got, folks. There is no Planet B. We need to save it. Lets take steps in 2019 to do that. Positive steps. Reach out. Connect. People do make a difference. A positive difference.

50 years ago today. William Anders, astronaut on board Apollo 8, took this iconic photo, known as “Earthrise”. It is widely regarded as inspiring the environmental movement. The fight to save this ball of blue, continues. Imagine, on Christmas Eve 50 years ago, seeing this.

Nature is amazing. This is an albino moose in Northern Ontario. Dont know the photographer but was not PACTPOW. We are not taking credit for the photo nor the splendour. But it is truly amazing.
