The release of 123 political prisoners from Belarus, including Václav Havel Prize winners Ales Bialiatski and Maria Kalesnikava, is a moment of relief, dignity and hope. They should never have been imprisoned.

At the meeting of the Committee on Political Affairs of the Council of Europe, I called on parliamentarians to increase the medical evacuations of Palestinian wounded from Gaza to European countries, giving priority to children. We must do everything in our power to save lives.
I am grateful to the many members of the Assembly who supported this initiative. From now on, we move to action.

The @PACE_Political Affairs Committee has proposed the creation of a "Platform for Dialogue with Russian Democratic Forces".
The Assembly is due to debate the proposal on Wed 1 October, at its coming #Autumn2025 session.
