🇺🇸 A Bible fused to steel. March 30, 2002. A firefighter working the last of the South Tower pulled a charred scrap of scripture off the pile. Heat, rust, moisture, and concrete had baked the page to a chunk of World Trade Center metal. The page had stayed open in Matthew 5. "Ye have heard that it hath been said, An eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth: But I say unto you, That ye resist not evil: but whosoever shall smite thee on thy right cheek, turn to him the other also." A firefighter found it and called over photographer Joel Meyerowitz, who was documenting the pile. Meyerowitz carried it out wrapped in a scarf. It is in the 9/11 Museum.
