Patients For Affordable Drugs is the ONLY bipartisan patient advocacy group focused exclusively on lowering drug prices. And we do so without funding from the pharmaceutical industry.
Why does that matter? Because P4AD is funded by people and organizations who support the fight for affordable prescription drugs and not by the companies whose prices we’re working to change, P4AD can truly hold the pharmaceutical industry accountable and advocate for patients without any strings attached.

Have you or someone you know struggled to afford your prescription drugs?
You’re not alone—and your story matters.
When patients share what it really means to struggle with the cost of medications, we can put real experiences behind the statistics and show policymakers what happens when people can’t afford the care they need. Patient stories help shape conversations, influence policy, strengthen advocacy campaigns, and make it harder for decision makers to overlook the people most harmed by high drug costs.
Just ask Maureen. Her story is one of more than 40,000 stories that remind us why patient voices belong at the center of the conversation.

🚨 GLOBE was supposed to save Medicare $11.9 billion. Now, it’s projected to save just $440 million.
The Trump administration finalized the mandatory Medicare Part B drug pricing model — but carved out drugmakers participating in voluntary pricing deals.
P4AD warned CMS that these exemptions would weaken GLOBE and significantly reduce its savings. CMS’s own analysis shows that roughly 19 manufacturers could have been included — but with the waivers, that number falls to four.
That means 96% less in projected savings — and fewer opportunities for patients to see lower costs.
56 members of Congress are urging CMS to withdraw a proposed policy that would prevent drugmakers from using new formulations of existing medicines to delay Medicare drug price negotiation.
Without this policy, drugmakers could tweak an existing drug, market it as a new formulation, and potentially delay when Medicare can negotiate a lower price — keeping patients paying high prices for longer.
Big drug companies have been fighting against Medicare negotiation for years, and after facing a barrage of losses in court, they are searching for other ways to weaken the program. These lawmakers should be standing up for the Americans struggling with high drug prices, not doing the bidding of pharmaceutical industry lobbyists.

56 members of Congress are urging CMS to withdraw a P4AD-supported policy that would prevent drugmakers from using new formulations of existing medicines to delay Medicare drug price negotiation eligibility.
Congress should be working to expand Medicare negotiation and lower drug costs for patients. Instead, these 56 members are doing Big Pharma’s bidding by chipping away at this critical program.
We urge CMS to stand firm against these efforts.

When prescription drugs are too expensive, patients are forced to take risks.
In our research with Hispanic and Latino patients in South Florida, 43% of participants said they had shared medications with family or friends to help make sure someone could get the medicine they needed.
Medication sharing was just one of the strategies participants described, alongside rationing prescriptions, delaying treatment, taking on debt, and purchasing drugs abroad.
These aren’t choices patients should have to make. They’re signs of a prescription drug system that is failing the people who depend on it.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth at the 2026 Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Annual Legislative Conference and participated in our “Guess the Price” game!
Through the game, participants got a chance to test their knowledge of prescription drug prices and learn more about how they can use their voices to help lower the cost of medications.
Question #6 was the question that shocked our participants the most. “At $4,216.10 per month, what costs MORE? A) A 30-day bottle of HIV drug Biktarvy, B) A luxury designer LV/Gucci handbag, or C) Ranger Rover Car Payment.” The correct answer is: A.
One participant shared that she didn’t realize just how high prescription drug prices could be until playing our game — highlighting why it’s so important for everyone to understand how high drug costs can affect patients and families. Even if you aren’t facing these costs today, you likely will at some point in your life.

“What do you mean, a thousand dollars for my drug?”
That was Ellen’s reaction when her doctor told her she needed Xarelto. Even with insurance, Ellen was shocked by how much she would have to pay out of pocket—and worried about how she would afford the medication she needed.
Unfortunately, Ellen’s experience is all too familiar for patients across the U.S.
When Ellen became eligible for Medicare, she was able to get Xarelto at a significantly lower price thanks to the Medicare Drug Price Negotiation Program. For her, that meant real relief.
Ellen’s story shows what’s possible when we use the government’s purchasing power to negotiate drug prices—and why we must expand these reforms so that all patients can feel real relief.
