Bylaw asking campers at Beacon to relocate to Topaz under threat of forced eviction from Beacon even after we have had NO ISSUES here and had 0 incidents to date.....why aren't we in the news ? clearly we can co exsist and live orderly lives in the community. Zero Impact not bad.

#COVID19 is giving society a small glimpse into what marginalized populations face daily. Uncertainty, fear, isolation, depression. Let's use this pandemic to bring us all together & fight to change these social issues! #WeAreInThisTogether #HousingCrisis #EndPoverty #bcpoli

A year ago, BC's now-beloved Dr Henry called for drug decriminalization. The government snubbed her plan immediately. Nobody painted a mural. The press conference was not carried live. There were no Fluevogs. It's time for her to remind them again. theglobeandmail.com/canada/b…

It's amazing how many people that have never held, shot, or even seen, a gun are experts on them.

Just a reminder that on Sunday prisoners are only fed 2 meals. So remember that when you feel like your having a hard time in isolation.

When you spend your time passionately advocating for PWUD with little, slow or no changes it can leave you feeling like a failure. But remember, it's not you who is failing ; it's the system keep fighting & protect our most vulnerable people in this world. #advocateappreciation

It's very difficult & challenging for people to change when we only give them barely enough to survive! It's the system that's failing and then we blame people! End #poverty #housingfirst #WeAreAllInThisTogether #harmreduction

Vancouver #homeless count 2,223. There are 23,000 hotel rooms in metro Vancouver. It is unacceptable that our most vulnerable are living in Oppenheimer park #dtes. @GovCanHealth needs to implement a National housing strategy & fund Provinces to house people who are homeless!

It's cheque day and #drugchecking continues to be an important quality control measure in the context of an uncontrolled supply in #YYJ. If you want to get your stuff checked, you can drop off a sample at @OutreachSolid to have it run through our spectrometers. #Harmredux

#Homelessness should be declared a public health emergency across Canada. It took years for me to #recover not only from #addiction, but also the physical & mental impacts caused by being #homeless! #COVID19 #cdnpoli #WeAreInThisTogether #dtes #bcpoli

DTES and Oppenheimer Park residents and supporters lead squat action to create emergency housing during COVID-19. “The government isn’t doing anything to help the people, so the people have to help themselves,” said organizer Flora Munroe

THREAD: For the last year, our ePAC collaborative led out of @UVicNursing has been creating resources & tools to support #ACP conversations among people living & working in the inner city. Now that #COVID19 is here, this work has become even more essential. #ACPDay2020

IMO, I'm concerned with "we can't give hand sanitizer to people who drink heavily bc they'll just drink it if their alcohol runs out." Yes, some people do regularly drink hand sanitizer. No, we don't need to assume or be paternalistic about it. People can make their own choices.
