Your compliance history can follow you into every FINTRAC monitoring meeting.
This week’s Weekly Cup of Compliance explains what monitoring meetings are and why they vary. FINTRAC uses them to review your compliance environment or follow up on past issues.
Larger organizations with messy reporting histories are likely to see significantly more touchpoints than entities with other gaps.
The schedule reflects the record you’ve built.

One year ago, the Bank of Canada’s RPAA framework for PSPs came into force. Retail Payments Supervision has moved from implementation to supervision.

If crypto ATMs want to stay, the controls have to be much stronger than what we see at most today.
This week’s Weekly Cup of Compliance asks whether Canada should ban Bitcoin ATMs. People are losing serious money to scams, and on-machine warnings aren’t stopping them.

👻 Real Compliance Nightmares is here! This October, our Weekly Cup of Compliance shares real horror stories and lessons to help you avoid them.
This week, Dr. Amber D. Scott covers a company that trusted an AI tool saying it wasn’t regulated. The tool was wrong!

AI is a good starting point. It is not a decision.

Canada's National Risk Assessment clarifies how FINTRAC is categorizing sectors and where examination priorities are likely to land. David Vijan walks through the risk tiers, from very high risk sectors like banks, MSBs, and crypto exchanges to newer medium risk entrants. (1/2)
Sector classification matters, but its not the only factor. Size & volume can move a firm up the priority list. Understanding where you land is the first step in anticipating scrutiny.
