My dad’s storyboards for The Trap Door were wildly detailed for some reason. And then he just tossed them once finished.

Happy birthday to the show that did a lot for our family! Aired 40 years ago today for the first time.
This pilot episode was actually made two years prior, in what became my bedroom. You can see how low-fi it is by how un-smooth the characters are. Still has the charm though 😊

If true, I don't mind it. In this digital-world, cinematographers have been getting far too close to the action. Now we're going back to having shots with room to breathe like in the 35mm film days. It looks so much better when you make the most of high resolution on a big screen
My dad had such an irrational hatred for Esther Rantzen that he named a Trap Door episode after her. And then his company got the gig to make the That’s Life title sequence, where he found her to be an absolutely delightful person and he took it all back 😅 Sad news.

I did some 2D animation in this, which I hadn't done in a good decade.
Basically these guys just ask me if I can do things and I say "Yes" and then learn how to do it in a panic, but don't tell them that.
