Making the commute to the office just to sit on Zoom meetings everyday is the worst. Survey (N=1,835) finds on their most recent day in the office, 1/2 had no fully in-person meetings and 1/3 had exclusively online meetings. theatlantic.com/ideas/2026/1…

Like you wouldn't believe.
Have you ever made an Excel spreadsheet so good that you were genuinely offended nobody in your life cared?

reminds me of my ask a fish about the water moment
This is the side of French culture I will never understand. In all my life living in the US, I’ve never personally seen a single car purposely set on fire. In my 16 years in France I’ve seen more than I can count—a considerable part of the population is willing to burn vehicles every few years.

Here’s a first: a guy booked a podcast interview with me, didn’t show up to the interview, and then today emailed to ask whether the episode’s gone live yet. My guess is he’s turned over his email and calendar to an AI agent and is completely unaware that it’s destroying his reputation.

New coworker turned to me today and goes "I've only been here a week but I feel like there's like four or five people better suited to run this place than our manager" We have a staff of 6

God I could not disagree more. This is so bleak. Just … watch the match.
Meta just blew this commercial out of the water. As everyone else stares at a screen, not truly living in the moment, you'll be able to watch without worrying if you caught it on tape, fully enriched in the experience. 10/10

Admirable approach from the new Avanti train manager on this service to Carlisle. "Coach A is the quiet coach. So if you're in Coach A, be quiet."

If you want truly long term success in a consumer discretionary business, you must leave some consumer surplus on the table. When you push everyone to their price discovery point, they will not voluntarily repeat that experience.

In reality. Airbnb didn’t disrupt hotels at all. How come it’s $400 for a bad room, in NYC / Stockholm/ London / Milan / LA …. has the cost base gone up that much. Is there no competition ?

banks aren't cutting jobs because of ai. they're cutting jobs they wanted gone years ago and ai is the cover. i worked in them. whole teams on half days, untouched, because headcount was something you boasted about. now cutting it is the boast.
