China is absolutely insane. As if a pork glut weren’t enough, now it has an electricity glut too… Just think about how insane this sentence sounds: “Data centers are the solution to electricity oversupply.”
This is the first in a three-part series examining China’s breakneck build-out of AI infrastructure as it seeks to become the pre-eminent tech superpower. With @EleanorOlcott and @WillLangley96 from the hinterlands of Ulanqab to Shaoguan Limited free link as.ft.com/r/dd3eceea-e2f6-44…

the worse part is the recession would probably cause more deaths than his money could solve in the first place 😭
elon could solve world hunger literally this second all he has to do is full stack dump all his shares, cause a stock market recession, wipe out trillions, delete tens of thousands of jobs, and then he'll be able to fund the federal government for about 18 minutes

the day will come when elon haters will propose actionable solutions for the problems our society faces. but today is not that day.
No, the left are not Jealous of Elon Musk, We don’t want to be trillionaires. We want a world where children aren’t starving to death whilst trillionaires hoard money.

How fast is AI debt rising? In Q3 '25 total hyperscaler IG leverage was 0.9x. 6 months later it is 1.8x, bigger than all of Energy. It is rising at more than 0.3x turns per quarter (and that excludes SPVs). In one year, hyperscalers will have the highest leverage ex utilities

the problem with McLaren’s limited edition drops, is that they’ve made so many 🥴
2015 McLaren P1 | Live at auction with no reserve This example is chassis 2 of just 5 converted to Spider specification by Lanzante, finished in iconic Gulf racing livery over a white SuperFabric leather interior and showing approximately 2,935 miles. Originally delivered new through McLaren Philadelphia and later transformed in the United Kingdom through Lanzante’s exclusive open-top conversion program, this P1 retains its original 903-horsepower hybrid powertrain while offering an even more visceral driving experience. Known in McLaren circles as “the Professor,” chassis #209 stands among the rarest and most significant modern McLarens ever produced, accompanied by two matching Gulf-liveried keys and showing fewer than 200 miles since the Spider conversion. AN ENTIRE POMERANIAN IS ONLY HOW MANY CALORIES?
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
That's Japanese text, not Chinese. The cashew is correctly labeled as a cashew nut. jisho.org/word/%E3%82%AB…. en.wiktionary.org/wiki/%E3%82%AB… The app mislabels the Pomeranian as a "jam bun". jisho.org/word/%E3%82%B8… ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E3%82%B8…

I’ve had a number of conversations with folks inside and outside government about the current situation with Anthropic, and here is what I believe to be true: — As we know, Anthropic publicly released its Mythos class models earlier this week under the commercial name Fable. — Fable is Mythos with guardrails. But if those guardrails fail, then you’ve exposed Mythos and its advanced cyber capabilities to people who shouldn’t have them. (Keep in mind that Anthropic itself widely promoted the idea that Mythos was a cyberweapon and needed to be regulated as such. They asked for government regulation of Mythos and championed the guardrails on Fable. If there is a vulnerability — big or small — it is Anthropic’s responsibility to patch.) — A highly credible trusted partner of both Anthropic and the USG who was testing Fable came forward with a jailbreak of those guardrails. The Admin asked Dario to fix the jailbreak or de-deploy the model. Dario refused. — In their blog post, Anthropic defended its decision by saying the jailbreak isn’t serious. That is not what the trusted partner and the USG believe; nor is that kind of minimizing language consistent with Anthropic’s brand as the AI safety company. It’s difficult to fathom how they could claim a jailbreak allowing operability of a cyber weapon could be defined as not “serious.” — In the past, Anthropic has always said that safety must be top priority and taken super seriously. In this case, Anthropic prioritized the continued offering of the consumer model over safety. — In reaction, the Admin issued the export control. The Admin did this reluctantly. It’s been very surprised that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to cooperate with a reasonable safety request (ie fixing the jailbreak issue). Anthropic’s reaction is very much at odds with their branding and ethos as a safe AI research community. — The Admin’s hope now is that Anthropic remediates the safety issue, the export control is lifted, and Fable goes back into general release. The Admin wants all of this to happen as soon as possible. It is frankly bewildered that Anthropic hasn’t wanted to comply with safety requests that it previously said were its highest priority. — Those trying to misdirect and tie this action to the prior DoW/Anthropic issues are wrong. The Admin values Anthropic’s technical capabilities and feels that this issue, while serious, should be easily resolved. The ball is in Anthropic’s court.

Elizabeth Warren is the best when it comes to spending other people’s money
Elon may have earned one trillion but Elizabeth Warren has voted on spending well over $30 trillion. THIRTY TRILLION DOLLARS Main difference is that Warren’s spending is not voluntary but comes from involuntary taxation backed by force.
