October 8, 2026 Day-38 🔴 Red Cove 🐳🔴 【日本語文は英文の次にあります】 #MelonHeadedWhale 〈18 killed, 1-2 babies were dumped) All 9 boats left the harbor at 5:43 a.m. Formation confirmed at 6:33 a.m. The pod, which had been large at first, was split into two groups on two separate occasions as the hunters drove them. The larger one escaped, while the smaller one was driven toward the cove. As they were being driven, the pod split again; the larger one escaped, and the smaller one was driven further. This was the same method used the other day for Melon headed, the species intended for food. However, today, it seems the hunters reduced the number of whales they were driving too much, so the larger group that had escaped out to sea was chased again. Ultimately, a group of whales — appearing to number nearly 20 — was driven into the Cove. Around 7:37 a.m., the nets were set and the whales were trapped. Sure enough, they were Melon headed whales. Moreover, the group once again included several calves. I will say this again and again: there is a legal obligation to make every effort to avoid catching mother-calf pairs during the Taiji drive hunt. Around 8:20 a.m., they loaded one or two small calves onto a skiff, covered them with gray sheets, and headed out to sea. This is the dumping of calves alone. In official reports, this is called a “release.” It is despicable. After that, all approximately 18 adult ones in the Cove were killed and carried to the slaughterhouse in the harbor by 3 skiffs.
