Web3 social apps has the best opportunity to attract a specific crowd now;
- creators with real alpha
- kols with legit opinion on privacy, censorships
- accounts reporting daily exploitation of rights in digital world
- subcommunities around nfts/memes reflecting actual usecases
best app I found so far is @orb_club, providing amazing interface, a real social media networking, with trading & other web3 stuff not as a primary goal
the loop of doomscrolling can be broken if people can get limited supply of genuine alpha from certain groups on web3 social app
but this can work with mutual support of individuals who are willing to contribute the content on a separate space free from all the extractors
this may become a first filteration of users we need in the crypto space after 2021,

this is why orb started building on lens
lens today remains 100% focused on the same core vision we had in 2022.
it all started with this:
Lens Protocol Open Letter
Social media platforms have created communities and allowed voices to be heard that might otherwise have been silenced. They have given us the power to connect across continents and oceans.
But these platforms are centralized. They own our data. They control our monetization. They dictate our algorithmic distribution.
It’s time to build a better way.
The Lens Protocol is a decentralized, open-source social graph that returns control of information and links to the people. It allows content creators to own their digital roots and enables individuals to fully possess their connections with their communities.
By signing this letter, you support a future where:
1. Creators own their content and distribution.
2. Users own their social graph and data.
3. Developers have open access to build innovative social experiences without the risk of being de-platformed.
Let's build a new internet together.
just use orb
@farcaster_xyz got bought yesterday.
New name. New owner. New rules.
Accept the new "social smart contract" or you're read-only.
AI moderation is coming too.
This was meant to be a decentralised social network.
Now one owner decides the terms and an AI decides what stays up.
That isn't decentralised. It's Twitter with extra steps.
Took me four tries to sign up.
Only did it to see what's going on in there.
What’s this all about @balajis ?
