It is a basic principle of American democracy that the government can’t selectively target individuals simply because of their political beliefs or what they say. But that’s exactly what the Trump Administration is doing to Congresswoman Ilhan Omar of Minnesota. To understand why this is so appalling, it’s important to know the facts. Congresswoman Omar came to this country with her father when she was 12 years old. Five years later, her father became a naturalized citizen. If Ilhan had been 18 at the time, she would have had to apply for citizenship separately. But because she was 17, she became a naturalized citizen automatically. Congresswoman Omar went on to graduate from college, work as a community organizer, become the first Somali-American legislator elected to public office in the U.S., and win a seat in Congress. There, she has been one of the Trump Administration’s fiercest critics, which has led the president to repeatedly single her out as someone who he believes does not belong in this country. Now the Administration is actively trying to deport Congresswoman Omar, seemingly based solely on the unsubstantiated theory that she was actually 18 when her father was naturalized, and therefore is not a citizen. Federal agents have raided her home, confiscated personal records, and seized her phone — all to try and uncover a nonexistent smoking gun from 20 years ago that will somehow make their case. Think about that. The full weight of the federal government is being brought down on a law-abiding elected official because she has dared to criticize the president. And it’s not the first time this has happened. Under President Trump, the Justice Department has repeatedly gone after those he considers his political enemies — from the Attorney General of New York, to the former head of the FBI, to members of the Federal Reserve. In those cases, the prosecutions either stalled or were dismissed for having no basis in law, and the same is likely to happen in this case. But not before Congresswoman Omar’s life has been turned upside down, her legal bills have piled up, and she’s been forced to spend time fighting unsubstantiated charges instead of serving the people of Minnesota. The fact that any president, or any administration, is willing to engage in such transparent efforts to intimidate someone should outrage all Americans, regardless of how they feel about Congresswoman Omar’s political views. Because if this becomes the new normal, there’s no reason to believe it will stop with her — or that future presidents, in either party, won’t do the same.

Anthropic's disclosed Q3 revenue of $16.8B (nearly +50% Q/Q from $11.5B in Q2) is a nice number in a vacuum, but it's just plainly insufficient to justify a $2 trillion+ valuation, especially in light of the $500 billion Anthropic said it intends to spend over the next decade.

President Trump’s diesel fuel supply deal with Vladimir Putin is a lose-lose.  The amounts are too small to have a meaningful, sustained effect on the record prices American drivers, truckers, shippers, farmers, ranchers and homeowners are paying at the pump, which are largely a result of Trump’s war of choice against Iran. But the deal does throw Putin a lifeline to continue his war of aggression against Ukraine (which Trump promised to end in 24 hours), the other contributor to record high diesel prices.  How is this good for America? apnews.com/article/trump-rus…

Trump is behind a debt spiral, adding 42% to the total debt & ~2% borrowing costs. The debt spiral is unavoidable no matter what Bessent bullshits abt it. It has nothing to do with being Republican, conservative, on the "right", or nationalist. It is just fiscal incompetence.
This isn’t apocalyptic. It’s just math. 10-year treasury at 6%. $40 trillion in debt. Do the math. That’s $2.4 trillion in annual interest payments. Larger than the entire Social Security disbursement. You cannot sustain that. Here’s the solution: just going back to the Clinton tax rates and making a few adjustments, you could save $10 to $12 trillion in deficit spending over the next decade and get this thing under control. No Republican is going to do that. Trump isn’t going to do that. And when Trump leaves office, he will be personally responsible for 42% of all the national debt in American history.

Telecom stocks are falling after hours following SpaceX’s announcement that it plans to acquire nationwide low-band spectrum licenses to become a major U.S. mobile carrier. AT&T $T: -6.75% 🩸 Verizon $VZ: -5% 🩸 T-Mobile $TMUS: -5.4% 🩸

SPACEX SIGNS SPECTRUM DEAL TO MAKE STARLINK A MAJOR U.S. MOBILE CARRIER $SPCX has agreed to acquire Grain Management’s nationwide portfolio of 800 MHz low-band spectrum licenses, a move the company says will pave the way for Starlink to become a major mobile carrier in the U.S. Elon Musk called it “the last critical piece of the spectrum puzzle needed for SpaceX to provide complete phone coverage in America.” The plan is to combine satellites with a ground-based mobile network. The low-band airwaves would complement Starlink’s 2 GHz spectrum, helping improve indoor coverage and extend service into areas with weak or nonexistent cellular reception. That would put Starlink in more direct competition with AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile. Separately, the FCC approved a new constellation of 15,000 SpaceX satellites this week for direct-to-device mobile services, another step toward expanding Starlink’s ability to connect directly to phones. The spectrum acquisition still requires FCC approval and other customary closing conditions. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Breaking: Michael Burry says the cracks are already showing Here's where he sees them: 1. Private equity and private credit are "getting torn apart under the surface of the calm" 2. Private equity firms own insurance companies, and he says those insurers are "holding too many bad assets" 3. Those insurers lend a big share of the money building AI data centers 4. Data center projects are already running into delays 5. Companies are building their own small AI models using "whatever is cheapest, even Chinese open weight models" This explains Burry's short position for MetLife. He holds $MET puts expiring in 2029

$SPCX is looking to raise $40B of debt to buy $NVDA chips as it scales AI compute without issuing more stock. If that capacity rents anywhere near ~$50 per watt then SpaceX can use debt to fund another cash generating layer across launch, power, connectivity & compute.
