Dear GOP candidates: right now we tax the first $150k of everyone’s earnings which goes to SS. But we don’t tax what people make after that—that’s why a cop and a firefighter pay on every dollar and a hedge fund guy doesn’t. If you fix that it could extend solvency.

Events like the holocaust become possible when the idea that Jews shouldn’t defend themselves against terrorism becomes normalized. Nobody wants innocent people to be killed. If you’re calling for a ceasefire, ask yourself: why that instead of calling for hamas to surrender? Don’t you remember what they did less than a month ago?

The signature flaw of far-left activist groups on everything from climate to Palestine to housing to policing is refusing to engage in any kind of specific way with how anything is supposed to happen beyond mystifications about political will. – at Washington, DC

It's a good bet that Trump telling General Milley to give him an Iran attack plan, was a request from Putin that went to Iran. Consider how emboldened Iran must be to do a Hamas attack on Israel, knowing there would be a response. Iran now has a good idea how the US would respond, targets, what we will or will not do. They've had a couple of years to develop countermeasures to US military action. Trump should be in custody for this. He emboldened Iran to have Hamas attack Israel.

Thanks to immigrants, the US won 75% of Nobel prizes in 2023. Without them, we only would have won 25%. High skilled immigration is a policy lever for more innovation unlike anything else. Oh and its free.

Here are some fun facts. The state with the highest median age is Maine. Florida is number 5. While Florida has the highest current COVID hospitalization rate in the US, Maine has the lowest. How is that possible? Maine has the 4th highest vaccination rate. Florida is 21st.
Florida has by far the highest COVID hospitalization rate in the country right now. Florida's elderly population + Florida's Surgeon General is discouraging COVID boosters, even among high-risk people = More COVID badness this fall/winter h/t @jeremyfaust

There’s more COVID in our communities now. If you’re over 65, or have significant health issues that increase your risk from a COVID infection, you should consider wearing an N95 in crowds and during travel. If you get sick, ask your doctor about Paxlovid.
