theyvoteforyou.org.au played a crucial role in the Federal election. With so many claims made on sitting MPs stances, this was one of the few ways to cut through the noise and disinformation and see how they actually voted in parliament. Please support donate.oaf.org.au
⚠️ Unless more of the people who use our library start supporting it every month, we will have no choice but to begin an orderly wind-down of Right to Know, They Vote For You, Planning Alerts, and OpenAustralia.org.au.

ALT Here’s how to keep it open: Become a monthly supporter, starting at $20 a month. What keeps a library like this open year after year is steady, predictable income from people like you. For about the cost of a coffee per week, our small team can keep collecting new information from hundreds of government websites every day, answer your questions, fix what breaks, and build things we have wanted to for years.

It's my least favorite thing in the world - asking for money but if you value OpenAustralia Foundation's work and our financially self-sabotaging independence then please support us donate.oaf.org.au
Civic infrastructure for the informed local citizen in Australia - help keep Planning Alerts running for the next 12 months. Donate $15, $50 or whatever feels right to you.

Democracy is grand, but so are organisations like @OpenAustralia that help keep the wheels turning. They need your support
It's end of financial year and we'll be running a fundraiser in the coming weeks. We haven't done this in two years.
After that we'll be going properly quiet here on Twitter. You will find us over on social.oaf.org.au/@oaf. Hope you can keep up with us there.
Read the final installment in Sabina Popin's three part series on applying research service design to improving Planning Alerts. There's real gold here.

We currently use donorbox.org/ to accept donations. It's worked pretty well for us and was a great improvement in terms of reliability and ease of use from using civicrm.org/ before.
Is it still the best thing for us to use this year? Suggestions please!
For the last few months our focus has been on improving planningalerts.org.au/. We've modernised the code-base, made lots of small and large performance improvements and migrated from mysql to postgres to enable further optimisation and new features.
A short 🧵
We've also had the pleasure of bringing Sabina Popin in to our team for a few months to bring her service designs skills to work on Planning Alerts.
The first of a three part series on what she did and found:

Service Designer and Researcher, Sabina Popin joined us temporarily to help improve Planning Alerts. Read the ins and outs in the first part of this three part series "Journey to Improving Planning Alerts: A Service Designer’s Perspective" oaf.org.au/2023/05/26/journe…
It would be dreamy to be able to do more of this. We will if we can.
Joanna Hill, Service Designer and Researcher, writes about her experience and methods of digging around in PlanningAlerts' email inbox to understand the experience of people using the service oaf.org.au/2022/12/07/what-a…
Hopefully people will try it out lots in the next few days and see how it works for them
We've just added automatic social cards to the people comparison page on theyvoteforyou.org.au
It's a little flaky because they're generated on the fly and the don't always immediately appear but it's a start!
