I am heartbroken to share that this morning our beloved Ward 4 community leader Stephen Whatley passed away. Stephen Whatley served as 4A03 Commissioner since 2001, representing residents in Shepherd Park, Brightwood, and Walter Reed for more than two decades.

It looks like we’re going to have three upcoming competitive special ANC elections coming up within the next month or two, in SMDs 1C01, 4A06, and 6E07! These elections will be administered in each SMD by the @OANC_DC. @OpenANC

A PSA for all ANC candidates: @Vote4DC will continue counting mail-in ballots over the next nine days, with a final count taking place on Friday, November 18! The results will then be certified on November 30.

Per @Vote4DC, the unofficial results in the recall vote of @AmberGove in ANC 6A04 are as follows: 452 ballots cast, 344 against recall, 108 for recall, 16 Special ballots. This means Gove retains her seat for the two remaining months of her term. She’s running for re-election.

That's a wrap. Sent in my paperwork today to officially withdraw from the ANC1E01 race. Based on conversations with @Vote4DC, this will make election straight forward for a write-in candidate in November.

BOE posted a new candidate list this evening. The one change is that Patricia Stamper has withdrawn from the race for 7C06, leaving zero candidates on the ballot in that district. openanc.org/map_2022/ancs/di…

Some bittersweet news: I’ve just resigned my post as ANC to 2F05! @ANC2F will always hold a special place in my heart as it’s been my home since I moved to DC and I would have loved to finish out my term as commissioner. Don’t worry- I’ll be around as I love it so!

I filed yesterday--and had to wait 15-20 minutes for the BOE staff to come back with a receipt for my petitions even though the reception area was basically empty. Anybody expecting to file next Wednesday needs to block out the entire day; you're gonna sit there a while.
