We now calculate how often every blog updates. So you can filter the Recently updated blogs page to only show the quieter blogs. And you can get an indication of how often each blog updates as you're browsing the directory. More on the blog: ooh.directory/blog/2023/post…

We now have a page of charts showing data about the blogs on the site: ooh.directory/about/charts/ Let us know if you can think of other slices of data that would be interesting.
A bar chart titled “Years in which blogs made their first post”. It starts in 1994 and runs until 2023. The peak years are 2007 to 2013, when around 80 to 90 blogs began in each year. In 2022 there were 53.

I've sent the 2nd newsletter, which is kind of the final newsletter! From now email subscribers will receive blog posts, and there won't be separate newsletters with non-blog content. Just subscribe via RSS or email. There's more, and the newsletter, here ooh.directory/blog/2023/news…

I've just sent the first ooh.directory newsletter. If you subscribe now you should receive it. buttondown.email/oohdirector… Or you can read it on the web, which seems to defeat the point. I'm not sure if that's a good idea or not… we'll see.
A screenshot of part of an email, which reads: This time around, keep reading for: 1. Site status update – how is it? 2. Some good blogs – things to read! 3. The suggestion pool – it’s big! 4. Language problems – what about non-English languages? 5. Some more good blogs – more! 6. Can you guess? – can you?

After moving a second website to the same VPS, we're having problems with RAM and the database staying up, so the latest posts aren't being fetched from blogs. We'll be upgrading shortly to get things back on track.

All recent posts have now been fetched and the site should hopefully continue to stay updated. 🤞
We're partial to @feedbin with @reederapp. @NetNewsWire also seems popular on iOS/Mac. What other feed readers do you all like?
