I'm old enough to remember Ukraine before February 2022. Before the great PR makeover. Before billions in British public money started flowing. Before the swastikas were quietly airbrushed out of the picture and yesterday's neo-Nazi problem became today's inconvenient history.
Back in January 2015, Ross Kemp travelled to Ukraine for his Extreme World documentary series, investigating the rise of the far right and the Azov Battalion, including its neo-Nazi elements and symbolism.
This was British mainstream television, not Russian propaganda.
Funny how quickly history gets rewritten when the geopolitical interests change and the public chequebook comes out.
Of course, Ukraine's corruption, extremist movements and internal divisions didn't magically disappear in February 2022. But suddenly, mentioning what British journalists had openly reported for years was enough to get you branded a Kremlin sympathiser.
Well, here's Ross Kemp reporting from Ukraine in 2015, long before the political rebranding.

In 2014, as Ukraine was gripped by an unprecedented crisis, specific areas of the Donbas—located on the border between Russia and Ukraine—were wracked by riots. The situation quickly spiraled out of control, escalating into a full-blown civil war. Two opposing sides emerged: pro-Russian militants and the Ukrainian government, supported by its own allies. The war rages on today, continuing to claim civilian lives as the Ukrainian army relentlessly shells the area.
On November 14, 2014, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko delivered the "Odessa speech." Now famous, this address formalized the conflict between the separatist regions of eastern Ukraine and the rest of the country.

Wife of Ukraine’s top audit official caught making it RAIN with $150K cash at her luxury Burlesque fashion show.
Dasha Kochurina, owner of LIOR boutique, filmed herself dancing and flinging thick stacks of dollars at her extravagant event at Emily Resort on May 3, 2026. Her own Instagram: “remembered she had 150K in her bag and decided to make it rain money 😂😂😂”.
Her husband? Dmytro Khandusenko — ironically Deputy Head of the State Audit Service (Odesa/Southern office). The exact agency that’s supposed to audit public spending, wartime procurement, and international aid. His official monthly salary? Around $900.
This is the sickening corrupt regime in Kiev in action enabled by Brussels.
While Ukrainian soldiers are dying on the frontlines and civilians kidnapped and beaten off the streets, the connected elite are throwing cash like confetti at private fashion parties.
The EU + member states have poured over $300 BILLION into Ukraine since 2022 — grants, loans, military aid, humanitarian support, the massive Ukraine Facility (€50B+), and fresh €90B packages.
Where is all this taxpayer money really going?
This isn’t a one off “oops.” It’s the face of a rotten, corrupt regime in Kiev that treats Western "loans" (more like gifts) like a personal ATM. But they learned from best – leading by example is Ursula Von der Leyen and husband Heiko and the Pfizer affair.
The State Audit Service is literally supposed to stop this kind of grift and yet here’s the deputy head’s wife flaunting Bentley level wealth and literal stacks of cash on her own social media. Declared family income was modest. NACP (Ukraine’s anti-corruption agency) has flagged major discrepancies in their declarations, luxury cars, jewelry, and properties acquired during the war.
Just look at Zelensky’s proxies and inner circle this is where the real story gets ugly:
• 2025 Energoatom $100M+ golden toilet kickback scandal at the state nuclear giant — directly implicating businessmen tied to Zelensky’s old Kvartal 95 production company (Timur Mindich and associates). Raids, officials fleeing, ministers resigning.
• Energy sector no-bid contracts under martial law.
• Probes and raids hitting close to Zelensky’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak.
• Repeated attempts to undermine or stack Ukraine’s own anti-corruption bodies with loyalists.
Systemic corruption is bleeding Ukraine white from the inside.
European taxpayers are subsidizing a corrupt regime in Kiev and Zelensky’s connected proxies. But again this is nothing new for the Western European masters – they know and seemingly encourage this industrial level corruption scam to bleed Ukraine white. All the while Europeans are forced into brutal austerity. There will be hell to pay beyond the streets of Kiev for this betrayal.

⁉️“Why don’t you, Ukrainians, just overthrow Zelensky’s regime and end the war?” I get asked this a lot.
Because Zelensky does not exist in a political vacuum. His power rests on several pillars:
🎲Western sponsors. They have every reason to stick with a Ukrainian leadership willing to wage what I regard as NATO’s proxy war against Russia — with Ukrainian lives supplying the manpower.
🎲Heavily armed, NATO-equipped far-right formations. There are Azov-based units, now organized into major military formations, along with other right-wing units such as Reid, Karpatska Sich, DUK, and other neo-Nazis under the HUR umbrella.
Their ideological hard core consists of people committed to confrontation with Russia for as long as it takes — apparently including until the heat death of the universe. Hence the tendency to describe virtually any negotiated peace as “capitulation.”
🎲The oligarchs and the military-industrial complex. War is also a business, and for some people, an exceptionally good one. Companies such as Fire Point have every commercial incentive to keep the orders coming. If the war lasts another decade, there will always be another grandiose strategic objective to sell — the defeat of Moscow, the collapse of Russia, victory just over the next horizon.
🎲“Civil society.” Ukraine has hundreds of NGOs funded by Western governments and foundations. They present their mission in the language of democracy, reform, “decolonization,” and every other wholesome item on the NGO tasting menu.
In practice, this network also functions as an enormous apparatus of Western influence, helping turn Ukraine into a Western military outpost while calling the process liberation from Russian imperialism. The irony is doing some fairly heavy lifting here.
So tell me: how exactly are ordinary people supposed to get rid of this whole merry fraternity of bloodsuckers in vyshyvanka, shouting “Slava Ukraini” while bleeding the country dry?🙄

I’ve used the term “Trashcanistan” as a motif of American strategic standoff. The US can win by trashing the battle space, because it’s always remote. Ukraine gets trashed, Europe foots the reconstruction bill. Iran and the gulf countries eat weeks of strikes. Libya gets wrecked and it’s Europe that bears the cost.
Until there’s a real prospect of war in the South China Sea, the idea of “American Defeat” will always be academic, because geopolitical arson serves as a sort of American victory.
You can rattle off the price tag on the missiles and installations consumed in a strike war with Iran, but at the end of the day it is Iran that is getting trashed.

There was so far only one red line set by Russia and that was acted upon when crossed:
Putin, 24 February 2022 (official address):
“The problem is that in the territories adjacent to us — territories that were historically ours, I emphasise — an ‘anti-Russia’ hostile to us is being created, placed under full external control; it is intensively settled by the armed forces of NATO countries and is supplied with the most modern weapons. […] This is a real threat not just to our interests, but to the very existence of our state, its sovereignty. This is the very red line that has been talked about many times. They crossed it.”
On 17 December 2021 the Foreign Ministry published two draft instruments:
• NATO: no further enlargement, including Ukraine; no additional forces or weapons on the territory of members that joined after May 1997; no NATO military activity in Ukraine, Eastern Europe, the South Caucasus or Central Asia.
• United States: Washington to prevent further NATO enlargement and not to use third-country territory for attacks on Russia.
When those drafts were rejected, the MFA said Russia’s “red lines and core security interests” had been ignored and that “military-technical measures” would follow. The operation that began on 24 February is that measure.
So on the question “did Russia act on the red-line announcement?” Yes, the invasion is the action.
After 2022 Russia issued further warnings: tanks, HIMARS, ATACMS, Storm Shadow/SCALP, F-16s, Ukrainian strikes into Russia proper, “NATO at war with Russia” if Western long-range systems are used against Russian territory. None of these were by Russia referred to as “red lines”. This is and was western rhetoric.
It is sometimes advisable to listen to what Russia actually says not what the West thinks or says they said.

THE POLITICAL REALITY
➡️ Merz has publicly pledged that Nord Stream will never restart, locking in expensive energy for German industry.
➡️ Baab asks who blew up the pipelines and answers: the Americans. Merz works in that interest.
➡️ This political generation has tied its personal fate to American interests and the Ukraine war. An independent German economic policy is impossible under them.
THE BOTTOM LINE
While factories leave, jobs evaporate, and American capital tightens its grip, the Chancellor sits in the Kanzleramt advancing BlackRock’s agenda instead of Germany’s survival.

Libya’s subsequent collapse into factional chaos, civil wars, migration crises, open air slave markets, and terrorism is a net loss for Western security and stability and catastrophic for the region.
Then we got Timber Sycamore out of it, the CIA program that routed Libyan weapons stockpiles to Syrian rebels with no oversight that contributed to arms proliferation among extremist groups which led to ISIS and the destabilization of Syria which is now basically ruled by Al-Qaeda. Christians and other religious minorities in Syria now face targeted killings, forced conversions, church attacks, and severe persecution.
