DEBUNKED: On Dec 17, 2025, a screenshot of a supposed @citizentvkenya Digital article began to ripple across political social media landscape. Attributed to journalist Jelilah Daud, its headline was explosive: United opposition splits as Matiang'i emerges as new centre of gravity

Upon digging deeper, it was established that the article was a complete fabrication. A check of the media house's actual output confirms that no such story was ever published. Daud's piece from that period was a lifestyle story.

The central question this paradox raises is critical: Is this a genuine political exodus from Gachagua, or is it a sophisticated isolation strategy orchestrated by his rivals?
