There are legitimate reasons to block people from your Twitter profile, but those who do it in response to losing a fair and honest debate, achieve nothing more than highlighting their willful ignorance to opposing ideas. Every block is a validation.

Ten years ago today.
In just the last few days: Trump made a deal for the U.S. to buy Russian diesel, an economic lifeline for Putin; he and Elon Musk blamed each other for an order that slowed down Starlink satellite connectivity over Ukraine, hampering the country's defenses during a devastating Russian attack; and Trump waived sanctions on Russia that Congress, led by his late friend Lindsey Graham, had pushed for.
Now, Putin has proposed a summit with Trump and Xi to decide Ukraine’s fate for them, bulldoze a century of international cooperation, and frame Russia as an equal to the U.S. and China.
We’ll see if Putin’s puppet continues to dance on his strings.

He says the name just fine when he’s begging the Qataris for a personal jet or the Saudis for funding for his son-in-law’s private equity firm.
Wonder what’s changed?
This is a take which challenges my intuitions and biases, but there's real value in the points he makes. Because I firmly believe in the need for institutions we can trust, I am sometimes guilty of downplaying the dangers of ideological capture and corruption within them.
Chris Rock just nailed one of the biggest problems with wokeness.
Helping people who feel marginalized is good. He says so himself. The trouble starts when a good cause becomes an institution.
The first few witches were real. Then you open a witch office. Now there are salaries, budgets and pensions to justify, and the office needs a steady supply of witches to keep existing.
That’s the trap. Once a cause becomes a career, solving the problem means losing your job. So the problem never gets solved. It just keeps getting redefined.
A system built to find wrongdoing will keep finding it, whether it’s there or not.

The people in this thread commenting things like "why waste your time doing this when ai can do it for you" truly do not understand the point of life.
The stop-motion animation work behind LAIKA’s WILDWOOD (2026) is absolutely insane.
136 handcrafted sets, over 200 practical puppets and 49 animators working across 231 weeks, with some shots producing just 1–4 seconds of animation per week.

I'm so sick of talking about AI and the implications of the tech on me and our planet, but at this point, it's a bit like trying to avoid talking about other people or politics. So many areas of my life are being turned on their head by the tech.

I’m sorry but this is completely deranged. I sympathize with the thirst for vengeance, and Nidal Hasan certainly deserves to die for what he did… but a public execution is giving a terrorist exactly what he wants: publicity. They fantasize about being martyred like this, in front of a crowd (and a live TV audience???). It’s ISIS recruitment slop.
One of the worst ideas in a long time.
BREAKING: The Pentagon says it will livestream the firing squad execution of Fort Hood shooter Nidal Malik Hasan. apnews.com/article/fort-hood…
I'm actually working on my first full "vibe coded" project, and this is pretty much spot on. Just don't ask me why. 🤣

Kemi Badenoch makes a powerful personal statement about what it is to be black and British: “I don’t want to explain to my son... when we’re watching our
brilliant England team play football... that some people don’t
think our black players are English.
“I remember back in the day when Ian Wright and John Barnes
were playing... nobody was questioning whether they were
English.
We certainly didn’t have sitting MPs questioning whether they
were English.
We must not let these people take us backwards.
That is not the country we are.
Reform MPs are openly questioning people’s identity.
They are not like us... we are not like them.
We are different.
We are the Conservative Party.
“Back in the day, we were the ones who put out a poster saying:
“Labour say he’s black, we say he’s British. ”
We are still that same party.
“I don’t know whether you’ve noticed, but I am black. I am British.
I’m proud of my country... I’m proud of our history...
All that we have done, and all that we will do in the world.
Our best days are not behind us, and we will not let this country
go backwards!”
It plays out like the opening chapter to a nightmare sci-fi story. Well worth a watch though, to fully understand what's happening with AI:
