I am now unironically likely R on the Wisconsin gubernatorial race. 7 months ago Francesca Hong voted against a bill that made it illegal for teachers to groom their students for sexual purposes Here’s what happened: A 30-year-old teacher messaged a 13-year-old student of his every day for six months and talked about how he wanted them to be together, she had a nice body, and he was jealous when she talked to other boys. He also sent her pictures of himself lying shirtless in bed So the cops arrested him but when they went to charge him, they realized nothing he did was actually illegal. They never made sexual contact and no pictures were exchanged that were explicit enough to qualify under Wisconsin state law. This guy was actively trying to rape a 13-year-old student and there was no law forbidding his conduct He wound up being charged with a bunch of disturbing the peace charges and only spent six months in prison for spending half a year abusing his authority as a teacher to manipulate a 13-year-old girl into having sex with him. He is not a convicted felon - since all the charges were misdemeanors - and is not on the sex offender registry The Wisconsin State Assembly responded to this by drafting a bipartisan bill that made it a felony to engage in any course of conduct clearly and obviously intended seduce or lure a child into engaging in sexual acts or exchanging illicit images. It passed 193-6 and was signed into law by the Democratic governor. Francesca Hong voted no. 4 months later the first person was charged under the new law. He was 36-year-old man who met a developmentally disabled 16-year-old in a public park when she was 13 and spent the next three years trying to manipulate her into running away from home so he could make her his live-in sex slave. To recap: Earlier *this very year* Franesca Hong was one of only six people to vote against a bill that made it illegal to take affirmative action designed to lure a minor into sexual acts and the very first person the bill Hong voted against was used to arrest was a guy who tried to rape an underage girl with Down Syndrome I have never seen a Democratic candidate this bad. This is like Mark Robinson territory

In 2014 Elder Bednar gave an apostolic invitation to flood the earth with the gospel through social media. I started a FB page, figured out how to make memes on PowerPoint & started sharing. Today I looked through those old files to see how many I made with this incredible man.

Following the tragic shooting targeting the Jewish Community in Sydney, Australia, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has issued the following statement: We are deeply saddened by the tragedy that took place in Sydney targeting people of faith as they gathered. We condemn, and feel acutely the pain of, such a senseless act and mourn with our brothers and sisters in the Jewish community around the world. May we all come together in peace and love to comfort those in need. As followers of Jesus Christ, we look to His example and pray that His love will soften hearts and inspire harmony and compassion during this holy season. newsroom.churchofjesuschrist…

My dear friends, may we be among those Saints and angels who at Christmas prepare Him room in our hearts and come to know Him as your Savior, your mentor, and your friend. Merry Christmas!

Each Christmas Eve, my father read to our family from Luke, chapter 2 about the birth of Jesus Christ. He also always read the account of Mary and Joseph bringing the baby Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem. My father read about Simeon who knew that he would not die before he had seen the Savior of the world. Simeon saw Jesus, held Him up, and said, “Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word: For mine eyes have seen thy salvation, Which thou has prepared before the face of all people.” At that point, my father always bore his testimony in heavily accented English, “I may not be able to hold dat little baby Yesus in my arms, but I know, yust as vell as Simeon knew, dat dat baby vas the Son of God, my Savior and Redeemer. He is real and He lives.” My father then looked at each of us with his piercing blue eyes and said with an emphatic nod, “And you can know it, too.” My father and mother knew who that babe in Bethlehem was and what He would accomplish. This knowledge transformed them. It has transformed me. This Christmas, seek the spiritual gift of knowing of the living reality of the Savior of the world. You can know that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that He atoned for your sins. This knowledge is longer lasting than any gift you will receive this or any other Christmas because it can transform you.

I knew my 13-year-old, Jackson, was a shepherd in a play for his mom’s LDS ward party in American Fork. I had no idea it would be so tender and touching. My eyes didn’t make it out dry. I hope you feel the true spirit of Christmas watching this nativity shadow play like I did. —————————- I've heard about this baby boy Who's come to earth to bring us joy And I just want to sing this song to you It goes like this, the fourth, the fifth The minor fall, the major lift With every breath, I'm singing Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah A couple came to Bethlehem Expecting child, they searched the inn To find a place, for You were coming soon There was no room for them to stay So in a manger filled with hay God's only Son was born, oh, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah The shepherds left their flocks by night To see this baby wrapped in light A host of angels led them all to You It was just as the angels said, "You'll find Him in a manger bed" Immanuel and Savior, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah A star shone bright, up in the east To Bethlehem, the wise-men three Came many miles and journeyed long for You And to the place at which You were Their frankincense and gold and myrrh They gave to You and cried out Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah I know You came to rescue me This baby boy would grow to be A man and one day die for me and you My sins would drive the nails in You That rugged cross was my cross too Still every breath You drew was Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah Hallelujah, Hallelujah

President @OaksDallinH of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints shares the story behind "The Forgotten Man", a painting that has inspired him since his time at Brigham Young University. The artwork, depicting a man overlooked by the world but illuminated by heaven’s light, serves as a reminder of divine awareness and compassion.

Susan and I have spent the day with members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and other community members who were involved in the tragic shooting episode that took place in Michigan on Sunday.   The devotion of these faithful members makes me want to be more devoted, and the faithfulness of these good people makes me want to be more faithful.   They have the capacity—because of the eternal perspective of the gospel of Jesus Christ—to learn lessons in tragedy in mortality that prepare them for eternal life.   We are familiar with the admonition that we should mourn with those that mourn. There are broken hearts here in Michigan. My invitation to any and all is to continue to pray for these good people.

On this day in Church history: September 30, 1949 The Prophet George Albert Smith begins the first ever television broadcast of General Conference. The television itself was invented 12 years prior by Philo Farnsworth, a Latter-day Saint. In 1862 the Prophet Brigham Young taught: “𝘌𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘪𝘯 𝘴𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘢𝘳𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘪𝘴 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘦 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘵𝘰 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘣𝘺 𝘥𝘪𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘵 𝘳𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘎𝘰𝘥, 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘨𝘩 𝘣𝘶𝘵 𝘧𝘦𝘸 𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦 𝘪𝘵. “𝘐𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘴 𝘣𝘦𝘦𝘯 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦𝘯 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘢 𝘷𝘪𝘦𝘸 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘸𝘢𝘺 𝘧𝘰𝘳 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘶𝘭𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘵𝘦 𝘵𝘳𝘪𝘶𝘮𝘱𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘳𝘶𝘵𝘩, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘳𝘦𝘥𝘦𝘮𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘰𝘧 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘦𝘢𝘳𝘵𝘩 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘱𝘰𝘸𝘦𝘳 𝘰𝘧 𝘴𝘪𝘯 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘢𝘵𝘢𝘯. “𝘞𝘦 𝘴𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘢𝘬𝘦 𝘢𝘥𝘷𝘢𝘯𝘵𝘢𝘨𝘦 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘴𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘥𝘪𝘴𝘤𝘰𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘴, 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘢𝘤𝘤𝘶𝘮𝘶𝘭𝘢𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘸𝘪𝘴𝘥𝘰𝘮 𝘰𝘧 𝘢𝘨𝘦𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘰𝘶𝘳 𝘤𝘩𝘪𝘭𝘥𝘳𝘦𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘦𝘯𝘦𝘧𝘪𝘵 𝘰𝘧 𝘦𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 𝘣𝘳𝘢𝘯𝘤𝘩 𝘰𝘧 𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘧𝘶𝘭 𝘬𝘯𝘰𝘸𝘭𝘦𝘥𝘨𝘦, 𝘵𝘰 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘵𝘰 𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘱 𝘧𝘰𝘳𝘸𝘢𝘳𝘥 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘦𝘧𝘧𝘪𝘤𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘵𝘭𝘺 𝘥𝘰 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘪𝘳 𝘱𝘢𝘳𝘵 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘨𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘵 𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬.”
