When I’m starting a new web project, I almost always reach for @laravel.
When I’m building a desktop application, I usually reach for C# with @AvaloniaUI.
And yes, sometimes that means a C# desktop app talking to a Laravel API. I actually really like that combination.
That’s not to say you can’t build desktop applications with something like @nativephp. You absolutely can. But for the kinds of desktop software I enjoy building, C# tends to fit the way I want to work.
I don’t really see programming languages as teams you have to pick between. Different tools feel right for different problems. Sometimes for no other reason than, “I want to build this using that.”
That said, PHP will always have my heart. It’s still my favorite programming language. It’s where I started, and it still feels like home.
This data nerd just had his day made!!! It’s me! I’m the data nerd!! @JackEllis

Currently working on tuning my dream financial forecasting tool! I have a very specific vision of how I want to forecast each fiscal year, so I might as well build it myself!
This is technically v2; v1 was crap!
This new @laravel Herd needs a way to go back to the old UI. I don't need nor do I want a prompt box! Word cannot capture how much I truly HATE this!

Best time in history to be a software engineer. Learn more. Build more. Ship more.
there's been so many times where a someone loudly says what we're doing is wrong
and then copies it later
the dumb thing here isn't that they were wrong, it's that most stuff isn't worth having any opinion on
you don't need to be pro or against literally everything
The changes in @opencode v2 are really sick!! Being able to hot-reload config files and restart the server without restarting the TUI
When AI over-engineers a solution that, on a technical level, is absolutely something to be concerned about but, given the product context, is unlikely to ever happen...
"Vance focused on Microsoft, saying no American company had abused the program more. Microsoft laid off 6,000 American workers last year and received about 6,300 H-1B visas", wow! insiderwire.com/news/u-s-sus…
