Support solo Q for 2nd role. If you choose Bot or Top, there's a higher chance the enemy in your lane is a Mid main who also got off-roled. But instead of playing a traditional Bot/Top champ,they'll often just play something from Mid pool—Syndra or Viktor Bot, Akali or Sylas Top.

Since I'm a Support main playing off-role, while they're still playing a champ they're comfortable on, I'm more likely to lose that matchup.

If I choose Mid as my secondary instead, then when I get Mid because roles are shuffled, there's a good chance the enemy Mid is off-role too. That makes it more likely that neither team has an actual Mid main, which makes the matchup much more even.

We need to see if teammates are off-role in draft. If profiles are private, you don't realize the skill gap until the game is already falling apart.
