Is this the paradigm-shifting moment for white people on race? Once the social pressure is gone, just how much do Black Lives still Matter? A question to my white friends & followers. Please read, share and that stuff :) #BLM medium.com/@oliverhypolitebi…

These riots started in Parliament. Rioters chant “stop the boats” and “we want our country back” - using language from politicians across the political spectrum. It’s not enough to call out violence, politicians need to stop normalising hate. In policy and practice.

I’m looking for teachers (Sept 22) to help me reach more children in need of quality support. @capementors provide the autonomy and time needed to bring about change. The right candidate will shape where we go next! Available to speak to anyone interested. #EducationJobs
Good to see Dr Harold Moody mentioned in BBC article on reveals from 1921 census bbc.com/news/uk-59879470 #blackhistory Background on him in thread below.
Big up @GoogleUK for paying homage to the great Dr Harold Moody - a Black British hero who's name should be in every kid's history book. But, as you're unlikely to see him there, let me educate on the man many regard as the UK's Martin L. King.

Our wonderful Teaching Assistant, Faisal is incredibly talented - we are so lucky to have him at HLP. This a capella performance was just beautiful. Just listen! #BlackHistoryMonth @Penny_Ten @Muna_Abdi_Phd @haringey_music

We are deeply saddened by the news that Samuel Oji has passed away. A graduate from our academy, he was loved by coaches and teammates alike. Our thoughts and condolences are with Samuel’s friends and family ❤️

Ten years since the London Riots. @OliverHBishop explores why we don't seem to be talking about it. ❤️

10 years after the London Riots and such little change. Read brother @OliverHBishop’s piece for the @MetroUK where he reflects on the missed opportunities and shortcomings of the response by “our” politicians. Saturday morning breakfast ☕️ and 📖

'The violence I was seeing wasn't gangs and it wasn't just young black men. It was everyone. Angry at issues not being dealt with, resources being taken away, the lack of funding into communities for YP...' 10 years on, what have we learnt?

Brilliant article for the Metro by an old friend @OliverHBishop We met for lunch this week and I must say, our conversation changed the way I think about various things. This article is symbolic of that change in thinking. It's a must read. See below. metro.co.uk/2021/08/06/10-ye…

A great book week that started knowing my autobiography #ClosingRanks was on display at the @bcaheritage next to @LennyHenry, which coincides w/ my contribution to the #BlackBritishLivesMatter book edited by Lenny & @marcusryder. The week ended w/ a book signing at @voyageyouth.

Writing a piece for the Metro on the decade since the England Riots and I'm looking for someone, preferably a woman, who witnessed the events unfold (anywhere in the country). You don't have to have been involved. Let me know if you're happy to chat & provide a few quotes :).

[QUICK THREAD] The more England succeeded in the Euros, the more ‘winning’ started to become a metaphor for something beyond the game but an unfair expectation, set by the media, to ‘unify’ the people of a country 'divided' by constant discussions of English racism.

The protests last year were not about 'fixing' racism through a few weeks of football, but about honest conversations on how deep & institutional racism is in England, & finding ways to dismantle it. This whole episode shows us that we haven't got there yet.

I think the overwhelming support after the game as well as the team's unique unity, emotional intelligence & politics, tells me that much of the country is ready & willing to have a deeper conversation - but there's a few, like this current govt, intent on holding us back.
