THIS 10000000% Some thoughts to add on: to be your talent’s biggest supporter as a manager, you also have to be their biggest opp! You have to be able to support them at their lowest points, when things seem unstable or even a little stale, but you also have to be the one to grab them by the scruff of their necks and expose them to new directions and opportunities when it’s clear that their current trajectory isn’t going to work out. As a manager, it’s your job to give wings to your talent’s visions and dreams and try to make them a reality, but it’s also your job to bring them back down to earth before they suffocate under the pressure of their own dreams It’s a delicate balancing act, to be honest I’m still not the best at it even after all this time, but the payoff when you bear witness to something that you and your talent could only have achieved by working together, oh man. Few things in the world eclipse that feeling ☺️
