Correction. Originally tram stops #Sheffield
The old bus shelters on Pinstone Street were a real slice of Old Sheffield. Built against the wall of St Paul's church. Now the church, wall and shelters are all long gone #Sheffield
View along Pinstone Street, with the Town Hall and St Pauls Church. The church was built in 1721, on what was then the edge of the town of Sheffield.
It was demolished in 1938, it was commemorated in the name of the gardens that replaced it. Better known as the Peace Gardens 🕊

Just because you have heaved your unwanted fridge over a wall doesn't mean the magic fridge pixies make it disappear. You have people who give up their spare time to wrestle it down precarious slope next to open water. Surrounded by more rubbish and got knows what else 🙄
Busy day for the 'Hawk' crew on Thursday, cutting back buddleia obstructing the approach to Tinsley Lock 10 and retrieving fly-tipped rubbish (including a fridge freezer!) @CRTYorkshireNE @CanalRiverTrust #volunteerbywater #hawktheworkboat #sheffieldandtinsleycanal #Sheffield
Derwent church, the fish pond and Derwent Hall. All easy to match up with this old map
#Derwent
Construction of Ashopton Viaduct and Ladybower Reservoir, Ashopton Inn, Sheffield to Glossop Road, in foreground. Definitely, one of my dodgier missions, but Ladybowers not this low too often #Sheffield #Ashopton
Help required. My gig diary has two entries which I can't date.
Trouble Funk 87/88 - possibly Octagon.
Big Audio Dynamite 2 - 91/92 at Leadmill.
Internet has no knowledge of the TF gig and denies point blank the BAD gig happened.
Restore my sanity please 🙏
Down at the future Castle Hill Park there's a stone yard. This piece catches the eye, I don't know if it's from the Castle or subsequent use of the site, but heavily carved #Sheffield
The Cannon Brewery site completed the demotion stage , then activity at the site seems stalled. I believe behind the scenes the planning permission has gone through and a contractor duly appointed for the build.
The Brew House and Water Tower are retained #Sheffield
Finally, some signs of progress in the River Sheaf at the Castle site. These structures have appeared under Castlegate. They look like the ones shown in graphics of the site plans.
They will brace the river banks eventually allowing for removal of the yellow temporary supports
I absolutely love where I live, such a beautiful and fascinating area to walk. The peaceful woods of the Moss Valley were once a place of industry.
Built between 1855 and 1875 the poetically named Seldom Seen Engine house is one imposing reminder of coal mining in the area
Sheaf Gardens at junction with Manton Street, looking towards Duchess Road. I love the terraced streets around Bramall Lane, but this area was cleared in the 70's I think. #Sheffield

The opposite view from the new bridge , carrying the Trans Pennine Trail over the route of the canal restoration.
Showing the excavations for the new lock and then the completed lock, through which the canal now extends 400 yards further towards the next goal of Renishaw

Woodseats tram terminus, Chesterfield Road at bottom of Chantrey Road. Electric double deck open top tram, built 1904. Some kids too fidgety for camera to catch them #Sheffield
