Traffic alert: Due to a crash on northbound I35 Highway, south of 119th Street, northbound lanes will be closed for several hours. Please plan your travels accordingly. Kansas Highway Patrol will be investigating the crash.

INCIDENT ALERT: Plz avoid the area of Loula St. & Hyer St. Contractor compromised a natural gas line. Atmos Energy working to remedy the issue. Some localized evacuations to residences in the immediate area near the incident occurred as a precaution. More info when available.

Plenty of sunshine for today's 'trench rescue' training with @Cfd2NEJoCoKS and @JoCoMedAct. A trench is a narrow excavation - basically deeper than it is wide – which may be prone to collapse. Trench collapses are extremely dangerous and potentially deadly.

A piece of steel from Ground Zero is on display in our Fire Admin. building's lobby (1225 S. Hamilton Cir.). The steel is by photos of the 343 FDNY firefighters who lost their lives.
Visit the display (Mon. - Fri.) between 8 am and 5 pm. The display will be up through Sept. 18.

Our Bomb Squad is helping another agency with a “disposal” in SW Olathe. A loud noise ‘may’ be heard. The disposal should be done within the hour. Disposals are considered routine operations.
And, noises may also be heard this afternoon in the same area as part of training.
