Twitch doesn't always get a lot of praise in the community, and I've been publicly critical several times. I've seen parts of @Twitch evolve closer than most, and I still talk to many ex-Twitch staff because they're an awesome, talented and passionate group.
We recently announced Kick Drops and a closer partnership with Kick. Being the first studio to run Kick Drops, I was unsure how Twitch would respond, if at all.
The day after the announcement several Twitch staff reached out to congratulate us, zero animosity, an invite for us to talk about how they can improve their platform from a developers POV. This is the exact response I wanted and hoped to see. Kudo to them!
Competition is good in any market, and the video game space is hugely competitive. Many "Rust killers" have come and gone over the past 12 years. We stand strong (for now?), and that competition keeps a fire lit under our arses to keep us pushing for better.
The same goes for Twitch V Kick. They will keep pushing for better, one upping each other, and it is good for viewers, creators, everyone. Both sides have issues, and they are actively working on them.
I'm not on a team. Working with Kick and Twitch is an absolute pleasure. Working with passionate people makes me want to work with them, and work harder to match their efforts. They do it for the love of it, wanting and pushing for the very best.
Both sides want to give you, the viewer, the creator the very best, they're never blind to community comments. I know many staff spend too much time on /r/LivestreamFail waiting for the next drama to unfold.
