Pumpkin Sitting...At Kleather's Pumpkin Patch Definition: The act of taking care of someone’s pumpkins. A pumpkin sitter makes sure the pumpkins are safe, happy, properly displayed, and protected from neighborhood squirrels, mischievous kids, and other pumpkin-related hazards. Much like babysitting, pumpkin sitting may involve checking on the pumpkins, moving them to a safe spot, giving them a little attention, and making sure they’re ready for Halloween. Example: “Can you pumpkin sit for me this weekend? I’m going out of town and I don’t want my jack-o’-lanterns left unattended!”

“You’ve got to want to do it. It’s hot, it’s dirty, it’s dangerous. You’ve got to want to be there.” After 36 Years...Jeff Prass Is Retiring... When Jeff Prass was growing up on Market Street in Springboro, he would hear what sounded like an air-raid siren coming from the station down the street from his house, then watch as neighbors’ cars and trucks raced by with red lights flashing on their roofs and in their windows. The drivers would get out of their vehicles, climb into 50 or more pounds of gear, and race away in ladder trucks and emergency vehicles to fight a fire. “I always respected and admired those people,” Prass said. On Saturday, Sept. 26, Prass will retire after 36 years of being one of those people he grew up admiring, having seen the Clearcreek Fire District grow from an all-volunteer service with the lone station down the road to a four-station district with a staff of more than 50 firefighters, EMTs and paramedics, and an annual budget of more than $12 million a year. It’s a reflection of the growth in Clearcreek Twp. and Springboro over three decades — growth that transformed a small, rural town into one of the prized residential locations in the Miami Valley. “This was tiny,” Prass recalled of Clearcreek Twp. and Springboro three decades ago. When he started as a volunteer firefighter in 1990, the combined population of Springboro and Clearcreek Twp. was 12,575 according to U.S. Census data, with a little more than half living in the city limits. Today, that population has more than tripled, with more people moving in each day and the Clearcreek Fire District growing along with it. The growth helped Prass land his first position with the service. He said he would walk into the station every day trying to get hired as a volunteer before finally being voted in by the department in 1990. Two years later he found himself with a part-time job putting out fires and making emergency runs as the department slowly transitioned into what it is today. “They knew (the community) was growing. They knew we needed to change,” Prass said. He pieced together a career working simultaneously with fire services in Moraine and Miami Twp., giving up roles at the other two departments when Clearcreek hired him full time as a fire prevention captain in 2002. Over the course of his career, Prass watched run volume surge alongside the population, saw the district expand by three stations, adapted to the rise of modern firefighting technology, and took part as mental health and well-being became a major focus of the job. When he started, emergency vehicles had to rely solely on human dispatchers and the driver’s knowledge of the area to get to the scene of an emergency. Computer-aided dispatch, mapping systems, GPS and everyday cellphones now shave pressure seconds off every call, he said. “Mapping systems are one of the greatest aides we have,” Prass said. He imagines it won’t be too long before drones are able to lift hoses into burning buildings and robot fire fighters can be dispatched to scenes. One thing Prass said hasn’t changed is the need for people with the desire to protect their community. “You’ve got to want to do it,” he said. “It’s hot, it’s dirty, it’s dangerous. You’ve got to want to be there.” Prass retires Saturday Sept. 26. He said he will relax through the fall and winter, spending time with his wife, Sheila, and two daughters, Paige and Jamie, before deciding what to do next. Good evening, Panther and Springboro families. I’m reaching out to ask for your help. This evening, I lost my partially completed diamond tennis bracelet while attending tonight’s football game against Northmont. We parked in spot #329, walked to the admissions window, stopped at Tom’s Coffee, and then went into the stands. We were seated in the upper portion of the stands on the north end, around the 40-yard line. After making a trip down to the concession stands and returning to our seats, I realized the bracelet was missing. This bracelet has tremendous sentimental value to me. It was a gift from my husband during the first Christmas we spent together. It is a “build-as-you-go” tennis bracelet with three diamonds and two rubies alternating on a gold chain. It also has a double clasp, but unfortunately, it clearly did not keep the bracelet secure. If you happened to find or recover it while at the game, please reach out to me. I would be incredibly grateful to have it returned. I would also sincerely appreciate anyone willing to share this post and help spread the word. Thank you so much for keeping an eye out and for helping me hopefully find something that means so much to me. With sincere gratitude, Megan Walters FB Profile below: facebook.com/megan.pokoj

The community is growing but still feels like a small town that supports each other. I create content primarily on TikTok (78.3K) and Instagram (11.6k) under the handle @itsmekendrac. I try experiences, places, products and everyday adventures and bring my online community along so they can decide what’s actually worth their time, money and effort before lugging their family/friends along." "I started my new series “eating at every restaurant in Springboro” because like i mentioned we are always going out to eat, going on dates and family destinations but rarely here in the town in which we live and love and I want to change that for me and for so many others!" #SpringboroOhio #SpringboroOhioRestuarants facebook.com/share/p/1EQDQcB…

From Nashville To Springboro...Crumbs & Chaos Bakery Has Arrived! A military wife, boy mom, and home baker is turning a little kitchen chaos into sweet treats for our Springboro community. A Little Family, A Lot of Chaos & Some Sweet Treats. TOMORROW IS OPENING DAY! CAKESICLES ARE OFFICIALLY HERE, SPRINGBORO! In the home of Katlyne and Alex at 465 Curry Drive in Springboro. 10 am-4 pm. The first five customers receive a free Alani energy drink. 🍰 CAKESICLES 🍪 Oreo 🥣 Fruity Pebbles 🍎 Caramel Apple Pie The story: "We’re a military family who recently made our way to Springboro, and we’re excited to call this community home. I’m originally from Nashville, Tennessee, where I met my husband, Alex, while he was stationed at Fort Campbell. He’s now a Captain in the U.S. Army and, with his newest assignment, teaches in the military program at the University of Dayton. We’ve been in Ohio since October 2025. I’ve been running a small baking business since 2023, and when we moved to Ohio, I started dreaming about bringing that business with me and becoming part of the Springboro community. Doing that with a toddler in tow has definitely added a little… chaos." "And that’s actually where Crumbs & Chaos came from. I’m a stay-at-home mom raising our toddler, Christian, while supporting a military husband, and somewhere between the crumbs, the toddler chaos, and my love of baking, the name just fit. For us, baking isn’t just about selling a sweet treat. It’s something our family genuinely loves, and we’re excited to share that with our new community. We’re starting small with local pop-ups and hope to grow Crumbs & Chaos into something that feels like a fun, familiar part of Springboro, one cakesicle (and one toddler-induced mess 😂) at a time. We’re so grateful to be here and can’t wait to meet more of our Springboro neighbors!"

Bye Bye Birdie? No. Actually...Birdie Bay Golf Is Opening In The Fall! They will have five Trackman powered simulators, a practice green, full service bar, appetizers, a party/meeting room, and a few arcade games (Golden Tee, Darts) for entertainment while waiting or not golfing. Address is 736 Gardner Road. "We are different from the other simulators in the area as we will be fully staffed, have rental clubs, and are trying to create a fun experience for all skill levels really targeting events (corporate, birthday parties, etc). My majority partner, Andrew Hudock, and I are both long-time Springboro residents, who felt that there was a lack of entertainment in the area, and wanted to bring something for both families and local businesses to enjoy and be able to stay in town for activities. We're really exciting to bring not just another bar/restaurant to Springboro, but an activity that can be enjoyed by everyone!" - Dan Hoelting (Partner) Birdie Bay Golf has partnered with many local businesses and feel the strong pull to being good corporate citizens. GB from Springboro Spirits is the landlord, and was extremely supportive in putting the facility in one of his buildings. F&M bank assisted with financing the project, Dryden Builders is conducting the build out, Springhouse Architects designed the interior, and Weathervane Woodworking is building the bar and tables. "I believe we are the first liquor license application under the new CED that was approved by council, so I would be remiss to leave off the City of Springboro and the overwhelming support and guidance planning, zoning, and the City Manager office have provided, " Hoelting said. Various memberships along with walk-in hourly rates will be offered. Currently, prices will be $40/hr for public bays, and $70/hr for private bay that has a party room attached with it's own entrance on to the patio. They are also targeting doing full-service events/parties where they will coordinate food/beverage/decorations. Framing will be completed this week, and all permits are approved! BUT...Warning to all adult and juvenile players: Don't have too much fun. Website link: playbirdiebay.com/ #SpringboroOhio
