Some fun facts about @OhbotRobot’s trip to space 🤖 🛰️ 🚀 It happened in January 2017, to celebrate the launch of Ohbot 2.1. 🛰️ 🛰️ Peaky was launched 28 km (about 17.4 miles) up into “nearspace”, a region of the stratosphere — not outer space. 🤖 The robot was called “Peaky”, named after British astronaut Tim Peake. 🚀 🧑‍🚀 Peaky was programmed to behave like a robot astronaut, including being worried about the cold, the balloon bursting and whether he would survive the journey back down! 🥶 The temperature up there could fall to around -45°C, and the sky would look black. 🚀 It took three launches to get everything working properly. 🏫 The first launch attempt was from Roysia Middle School in Hertfordshire on 20 January 2017. 📜 One of the really lovely educational parts was that Peaky carried and delivered messages written by children. More than 900 entries were submitted to the 100 Word Challenge, with selected messages being sent up with him.
