it’s kinda like how The Boys is produced by Amazon
hannah montana is honestly such a bizarre show when you remember what it’s actually about. the whole premise is that a child needs to be protected from the machinery of fame, exploitation, and constant public attention. miley gets to have a normal teenage life because her dad creates this secret identity and keeps her away from the worst parts of celebrity culture. meanwhile, outside the show, the actress playing her was an actual child being launched into the disney machine. so you’re watching a fictional father protect his daughter from the exact industry that was simultaneously making a real child into a product. and the funniest part is that fictional robby ray is somehow the more responsible parent. even the name thing is wild: her fictional dad uses a different name, while miley uses her real one. like he at least got a tiny layer of separation from the character. she didn’t.
This deadass happened one time that I went to see Lauryn Hill in 2016. She came on at a reasonable time then a few days later the Cubs won the World Series and then a few days after that Trump won the election. Insane series of events.

Prepared by an old Burmese woman who is insane on the stove. Perhaps the only person on the planet who can outcook you.
