7 years in the Army. 10 years selling HVAC. Then I used my GI Bill on a cybersecurity degree while riding a motorcycle around South America. Planned to keep going. Met my wife in Colombia instead. Now I sell cybersecurity, run a coffee farm, have 2 kids, and vibe code for therapy. The plan was overrated.

My Royal Enfield has been parked since my daughter was born. Three years now. I keep saying I'll get it running again one of these weekends. The bike is patient. Mostly, so am I.

100 launch in January. 60 are quiet by spring. 30 are on a different project by summer. 10 are still posting in December. 1 is still on the original idea. The filter is the calendar. My moat is to be the last 1 standing.

Deleted the whole test workspace this week, on purpose. Then restored it. 20 contacts came back, the deals came back, the consent rules came back. Boring test. It's also the only kind I fully trust.

The new @theallinpod kept circling back to bespoke software. If AI makes it cheap to build the exact tool your business needs, why rent the same SaaS as everyone else and bend your business to fit it? Then the question under that one: what happens to moats? Software used to be the moat. The code, the years it took, the team behind it. If one person can rebuild a tool at night, the code is not the moat anymore. I don't have a moat yet, day zero on that too. But whatever it turns out to be, I doubt it's the code.

Most AI-built apps don't get hacked by geniuses. They get hacked by an open database, a leaked API key, or a weak email. I made a free guide for vibe coders: 7 moves, one afternoon, and a copy-paste prompt for each one. Get off zero: Link below

Been under the weather most of this week. Performance was downshifted across the board. Slower work, slower building, some things just waited. It's Saturday. Coffee's hot, kids are up. Getting back into the mix and shifting up gears.

I'm building Virdo, the CRM built for your agent. The main functionality is one thing. Outside of that, I'm always asking how I actually create a moat here. I don't have one yet. Nobody starts with one. From what I can tell, a moat is doing the boring work longer than everyone else is willing to. People get bored and quit. I'm at day zero of finding out if that's true.

For my MacOS folks. Do you find yourself staring at the dynamic screensavers/backgrounds longer than optimal. They did an unreal job with those.

Years in cybersecurity taught me the scariest vulnerability is still the person who clicks the link. AI didn't change that. It used to come from a prince who couldn't spell. Now it comes from your CEO, perfect grammar, at 4:42pm on a Friday.

Your agent remembers plenty about you. Your name, your projects, how you like things done. It's good at that. Your business doesn't run on any of it. It runs on what you know about your customers. Who's waiting on a quote. Who said call me after the holidays. Who already bought. Who said don't contact me again. Your agent has none of that. Nobody gave it a place to keep it. That's what I'm building: Virdo

What's the first job you gave your agent? Mine was email security. First my @Muse, Vera, learned my inbox from six months of mail: who actually writes me, what normal looks like. Now every message gets checked before I read it. Authentication results, links that say one site and go to another, sender impersonation, language built to rush you. Anything off gets labeled and set aside, and its links run through @virustotal

I get 2 windows a day to work on my projects. Sometimes later, if my wife is tolerant of my laptop screen glowing up the bedroom. • 6-8:30am: vibing/cooking/building • 9-10am: gym • 10-10:30am: shower • 10:30am-6:30pm: at my desk working • 6:30-9pm: family time • 9-11:30pm: back to vibing/cooking/building I cook with Claude. Muse is my personal agent. Grok and ChatGPT are used for research and testing for Virdo. Luckily I have the best wife and mother-in-law I could ask for and they do most of the child care. I feel so lucky and grateful to be alive!

My @muse flagged $FAF on the Sunday scan and I almost skipped it. A title insurer. Only in America do you need insurance in case the person selling you a house doesn't actually own it. FAF sells that insurance. Then I ran the checks I always run. She finds what's down 5%+. I check whether the reason was dumb. A rate scare against a 4-year uptrend and an 11% dividend hike? Dumb reason. Bought the pullback at $61.68, stop at $55.99, targets $68+. Paper money. Real rules.

My daughter is 3, and my son is a few weeks old. I get two hours before the house wakes up, when nobody needs anything from me. The coffee hits just right. Claude and I build Virdo. Meanwhile, the gaps are filled with developing Vera, my personal assistant Muse. Whatever's left goes to bracing for chaos. Status: currently bracing for chaos.

An agent can write a perfect intro email. The customer replies. They go back and forth a few times. Next week the agent introduces itself again. Fresh start, as far as it knows. Same customer. The emails were never the problem. It never stored any of it. And doing that hundreds of times a month wears your customers down.

My goal here isn't to do what 99% of the "builders" do. It's tempting to fall in line. But everyone posts the same clickbait, the same comment-bait questions, the same takes. One big echo chamber. I'll pass.
