My daughters friend has a birthday tomorrow and she wanted me to make a present for her. She and I sat down today and designed her friend a cute little tumbler. I dropped it in the laser and pumped out this bad boy. It came out great and daughter loved it.
With needing to have my colors on point when I print, I think it was a solid investment to buy the calibration equipment. It will help produce an accurate and standard profile between different vinyls.
Here you can see the before calibration sample and the two different papers that have been calibrated to match. I think it did a great job in calibrating.
From there, I calibrate each paper that I will use. This will give each a profile. As I mentioned in a previous post, one of the papers we use is slightly more vivid. This calibrations takes that into account when you you tell the printer to use the new profile for that paper.
Next up, you print out a set of base colors that you will later use with the spectrophotometer. Who would've know there was so much to getting colors right.
Here I am calibrating one of my monitors. You use the camera sensor against the monitor while it runs through an array of colors. I then adjust brightness to match levels and it finalizes and applies the new calibration as the default monitor profile.
Inside we have two main units and some spare accessories. One for the monitor(on left), and one(2pc) for printer(on right and upper part of case). Ooh. Love gadgets. Time to get busy.
And through trials, I found I needed to calibrate my printer as well. So, I ordered a set of equipment to aide in my calibration efforts. Weeee, this is getting fun. My brain is on overdrive. lolz. Yay..It arrived. 😃Time to get to work! y00t y00t
Colors. haha. Oh how I've pulled my hair out with color management. I wasn't quite happy with the output on my stickers and it was driving me crazy. 😆So, being new in the print space, and after some research, I determined I needed to recalibrate my monitor. Follow with me :) 🧵
Overall, we decided to use both papers. One just works overall better outdoors and the other indoors. We are very pleased with the results. We will use a spray coating on all kiss-cut sheets and a uv laminate sheet on die-cut. Die-cut will be offered in gloss or matte.
Printed out a few while calibrating my printer colors. I'll go into my calibration of my equipment in another post. I went ahead and threw some spray and laminate sheets on them and they were outside for a few days as well. I even snuck one on my daughters friends truck then too
Let these sit outside in the Florida sun and weather for several days. Then decided to fully submerse them. These sat fully submersed for a few days. I can see that one on top right was allowing a little moisture under causing discoloration.
