Students in Ms. Bono’s 6th grade social studies class are creating culture webs to launch their study of ancient civilizations.
6th grade students are developing their team identity. Each team has chosen a mascot and is working on decorations for a bulletin board competition.
Th 6th grade Orchestra, Band and Chorus performed tonight in the Spring Concert under the direction of Ms. Yedwab, Mrs. Finnegan and Mr. Vasic.
Mr. Smith, Mrs. Schnupp and the Middle School cast of Matilda visited John H. West today to read to students.
Students in Ms. Giambruno and Mrs. Barbara’s classes launched their argument writing unit. Students researched and debated topics such as Fort Nite vs Minecraft, physical vs ebooks and Chick-fil-A vs McDonalds
Students in Mr. Koster and Mrs. Delaney’s 7th grade Spanish classes created holiday cards for law enforcement officers to spread cheer and show their appreciation. The cards will be distributed to various precincts throughout New York State through the Cards for Cops program.

Ms. Bono’s Citizenship Club’s held the first student of the month breakfast of the year. Parents and staff gathered to recognize students who go above and beyond each and every day!
Mrs. Kalinoglu’s Student Council held their first “Twisted Thursday” today. They sold pretzels to raise money for Childhood Cancer.

Mrs. Giambruno and Mrs. Barbara’s classes went to the library for a book talk and to pick independent reading books with the help of Mrs. Simonetti.
Students in Mrs. Well’s Earth Science class use teamwork and problem solving to build towers with spaghetti and tape in “The Marshmallow Challenge.”
HS Research Advisor John Dominguez brought his Intro to Research cohort together this past summer. They shared their personal mission statement with each other and participated in activities to build camaraderie.
Mrs. Czachor, Mrs. Kiernan, Ms. Ruccia and Ms. Sweeney helped the 6th graders kick off the school year at the Middle School Bound program. Students spent the day making new friends, participating in team building activities and getting to know the Middle School!
Mrs. Czachor’s 6th grade scientists test if the mass of a marble affects the distance it will make a cup travel.
