Just out: a collection of oldish Irish horror stories from 1832 to 1940.
The cover of Your Own Dark Shadow: A Selection of Irish Horror Stories, edited and introduced by Jack Fennell. A high-contrast black and white illustration of a forest with a spooky-looking cabin in the centre, upon which a red circle is superimposed with the cover text inside in white.

Between @Octocon, the national Irish science fiction convention, as well as a double book launch at the @JamesJoyceCentr , I have a good feeling about this month. Let's just say I've also seen the proofs of the volume edited by @baconetti and I can hardly wait for its release. 👀

I'm now on my way home from @Octocon 2024. I had the absolute pleasure of getting to have @RFLong and @sarahreesbrenna as my Guests of Honour during my two years as Chair, and I had the best committee I could ask for. I love this convention so much ❤️

Me: “Lady Winter’s worshippers clearly crave external validation and a harsh authority figure telling them ‘good job’.” Me, simultaneously in my head: …wait, what does that say about me.

Fantastic discussion on The Vulnerability of Writing/Drawing Desire on now @Octocon Daniella Bella (moderator) Helen Corcoran Richard Sparks Ruth Frances Long / Jessica Thorne #Octocon
The Vulnerability of Writing/Drawing Desire Daniella Bella (moderator) Helen Corcoran Richard Sparks Ruth Frances Long / Jessica Thorne It's easy to talk about what you don't want but to talk about need and desire and lust and love in a personal way can be a vulnerable act. How do writers get comfortable with communicating not just things their characters want to prevent, but objectives their characters want to achieve and intimacy they want to engage in?
