I'm looking for examples using stream-side and instream incubators (βhatchboxesβ) for releasing unfed salmonid fry to enhance harvest, supplement natural runs, or restore extirpated populations. Any leads appreciated, please repost to spread the word!

Thanks to the 90+ folks who came out last night to hear me preach the #roadecology gospel at Oregon State University, a campus with an appropriate amount of beaver iconography. Grateful as always to my guy @anokaydane and the good folks at @osuswlf for showing me a dam fine time!

βThe foodscape β (re) connecting salmon to the productive capacity of their watersheds,β by Gabe Rossi, J Ryan Bellmore, Jonathan Armstrong, Carson Jeffres, Sean Naman, Stephanie Carlson, Ted Grantham, Matthew Kaylor,Β Seth White, Jacob Katz, Mary Power tinyurl.com/2s35cnw6 1/2

ALT From the blog post: Figure 1. Salmon are iconic mobile foragers. As they grow from eggs laid in freshwater streams to adults in the ocean, salmon can make use of virtually all of the freshwater, estuarine and marine habitats they can physically access. However, each habitat differs in timing and extent of food abundance, food accessibility, and environmental conditions that contribute to growth. This shifting mosaic can be expressed as a foodscape (Figure 2). Figure 1 is reused here, with permission, from CalTrout et al. (2024).

The search has begun for my successor! Collections-focused ichthyologists with expertise in systematics, phylogenetics, biogeography, and conservation should apply by April 14. I can happily answer questions about the awesome department and collection.
