SpaceX supported Ukraine during its darkest hours, and this is what they get in return! Such ingratitude!
Starlink should have never helped Ukraine in the first place. It will just end up getting blamed, as it is now already, but even more.

This is one of the best examples of “instructional” slop I’ve ever seen. At first glance it seems helpful, but if you give it any real thought you’ll realize almost every step is completely wrong or broken. I love the final step: successfully plugging the cable in upside down.
Facebook is filled with these AI videos on low voltage and they are driving me bonkers.

Spicy take incoming. 🔥🔥 The combined bomber offensive in WW2 finally crippled the Axis powers by destroying their fuel supply chain. Then it took the industrial might of the entire US to build tens of thousands of bombers. Now anyone between you and the Middle East can burn down a refinery, tank farm, pipeline, or tanker, with an easily assembled robotic flying bomb that costs less than my AI subscriptions. @PeterZeihan predicted "the tanker war" would happen in the Indian Ocean but it doesn't matter where. There's only one country that could plausibly enforce global peace on shipping lanes and only one industrial power that is self sufficient on oil supply, and it's the same country. Trump asks Iran and Zelensky to please stop blowing shit up for five minutes, but the primary victims of this phase of the kinetic conflict are China and Europe, both places that have spent decade(s) ignoring and/or undermining the Pax Americana and, in Europe's case, going out of their way to destroy their own economies. China wants to be a big boy on the global stage? Let them spend their own blood and treasure pacifying the Middle East. Europe wants to stick it to Trump? It's easier to tell the yanks to get fucked if you don't rely on them for literally every aspect of your industrial infrastructure and economic stability. I've been in rooms with senior energy ministers from Europe and China. The Chinese are rational and pragmatic, the Europeans are functionally comatose, but neither party has a better plan than getting into a bidding war to buy whatever LNG the US can spare, forever. It is blindingly obvious to me that the least unstable future equilibrium is one where oil users localize supply using solar synthetic fuel tech, essentially a silico-industrial form of farm-to-table agriculture. Short supply chains, locally secured. It is equally obvious to me that a generation of people who grew up in the "developed" world are going to endure a decade or more of severe hardship before they, collectively, accept the L and move to the next step. Most people would rather watch their neighbor freeze than admit they were wrong.
If you can't defend your entire oil supply chain from anyone who could possibly have access to a $2000 drone and could possibly have any reason to use it with zero consequences, you are one third party misunderstanding away from abruptly re-entering the pre-industrial age.

EB turning the afterburners!
It is. But there is a world in which Vulcan is launching dozens of these satellites to orbit every month next year.

This is so cool. I love this song and the raw emotion.
Now the RAM prices make sense.

Einstein was right, space is warped.
You can see one of the @Starlink V3 satellites being deployed into orbit from Starship.

It is fascinating to me that today SpaceX’s stock price did not go up after the successful launch. I guess that means expectations met, meh. 😒

I keep imagining a dedicated orbital booster variant of Starship that would stay in LEO as a high-energy kick stage. It would drop the fairing, keep flap variation, and use a lighter TPS sized only for shallow multi-pass aerobraking rather than a full LEO entry. Both the payload ship and the booster would be refilled in LEO. After the injection burn, the booster would reserve enough propellant to drop perigee into the upper atmosphere and walk itself back to circular LEO over weeks to a few months. The exposed coupling would need reusable high-temperature blankets or a durable coated interface that survives repeated shallow passes without replacement. Alternatively, a sacrificial collar could also be brought up on each Starship planned for boosting, inserted between the normal booster and the Starship, and left behind coupled to the LEO booster for aerobraking and then disposed of.
In fully reusable mode Starship won't actually be able to go anywhere beyond LEO without orbital refilling. It's hilarious how SS goes from being the worst high-energy-trajectory rocket ever built to being (by far!) the absolute best just by adding that one feature.

Has anybody noticed that in Claude Code, the Usage option in settings was removed? It’s still there you can search for it and it’ll pop up, but if I didn’t notice search, I wouldn’t know it was there yet I really need this.

I guess they made it so that command line “/usage” now pulls up this screen instead of putting the mini version in-line.

So damn funny, and yet this is a serious issue
Hello computer, Find every Amazon purchase I ever made. Call the number of the manufacturer. Say you’re not satisfied. Request a refund. If they decline, threaten to leave a bad review. If they decline, find the CEO’s phone number and ask him for a refund. Now, repeat the same process for items I never even purchased and see if you can get them to send me money. If they ask for a recipient, generate an image of one and send that. Do not stop until you’ve collected $1 million in refunds.

Do humans in space have anything at all to do with your plans? Or is it just clankers forever?

I don’t think Arianespace is that dumb. They couldn’t get funding to develop reusable rockets due to risk aversion (both technically, and if a market would develop to justify the investment), but those in charge didn’t want to lose guaranteed access to space, so they tried to cut some costs with Ariane 6, though it was clearly mismanaged. Everything else is just a reality-distortion narrative to save face and remain relevant.
Isn't it ironic? Wasn't it an executive at Ariane space who claimed that reusable rockets was a "dream that people needed to wake up from"? Sometimes, dreams come true I guess.

We Must Pace the Frontier: I’ve written a new essay on why the AI industry should slow down, with a three-part plan for doing so. Anthropic is unilaterally committing to the first of these steps. We’ll provide third-party evaluators with permanent, employee-level access to our systems, so that they can verify adherence to our safety measures, report on incidents, and assess models’ alignment during training.
