Bugger, keeping tabs on the livestock comes with its risks. Looking like another vet trip and time off for Ben. He would be wondering what all the fuss is about. He doesn’t do inside at all.
Busy week at the Vets last week, old mate Jack ate something he shouldn’t have, thought he was a goner. Was 50/50 at best. Very good vets and staff gave him the best chance. This guy seems to have more lives than a cat. Just last year had a close call with a brown snake.
Well guess what after 23mm plus of rain the frogs are still alive, lawn has long since died after the long dry. Reminds me a bit of a movie I can remember, not sure of the name, maybe Rainforest where the frogs sing for the rain.Going to enjoy the frogs singing me to sleep tonight
Lamb marking today , rounded up these ultra whites , plenty of lambs. Talk about age and experience can you guess which one is the young dog.
Some good signs for this young lady , shoulder operation seems to have worked well , been a a long process and not over yet , just as well the kids have left home 😂
Bit of a tough time of the year for wild life in this hot weather, birds (magpies, parrots, pigeons ect) make easy prey for Wild cats laying in wait at drinking points. This one’s been here a week or so and had a few good feeds,
Had a bit of a weigh up today on the ultra white lambs , late August drop , agent saying buyers are looking for 50 kilograms plus , thinking another month or so , been pretty low maintenance so far just an ear tag and a vaccine
The dots just haven’t lined up for this Kelpie girl since an unfortunate mishap recently that dislocated her shoulder, she’s been in Adelaide for the last week awaiting surgery and tomorrow is the day. If it’s successful she has a 6 month recovery. Hopefully a good outcome 🤞
Harvest is getting closer but the livestock enterprise has been pretty boring lately, sheep lambing and cattle calving but these guys turned up tonight for a bit of a play.
Farmers special, forgive my home butchering, but lamb just turned into hogget down from $4.50 kg ( if your lucky) to $1.50 kg , dogs have never had it so good. Reckon I’ll stick to cropping for a while until we get through the surplus. Must say it’s pretty tasty though.
Nothing to brag about here but pretty impressed with this line of Ultra white x Aussie white ewes mated to Ultra white rams. Turned 200 ewes into a mob of 500 ewes and lambs, pretty good mama’s. Ewes large udders and plenty of milk, ewe lambs will be ready to breed at 8 mths

Hey @MurrayWatt, a client brought 8 fat rams into sale today. They made $1/hd. Yard dues $2.03/hd.
Who does he pass the costs on to???
Jack gets to spent the night inside tonight to keep an eye on , checking out the spinifex for a lost poddy calf this afternoon and ran into 5/6 foot western brown , reckon I called him of in time , quite a few big slippery’s getting around atm
