13 years ago, I went to breakfast with @kiptew just to catch up. Conversation turned to social media, and Kip explained to me the different platforms and how they might be used. I loaded the App, and voila! As older people might say, "Seems Like Yesterday" 😄#MyXAnniversary

Is it too much overthinking to WANT to watch the TX vs OSU game and yet know that very few of these kids go to class, probably don't live on campus, and even fewer will graduate in 4 years?? Hired guns playing under different stickers with ZERO connection to those universities 🤔

We should have some breakfasts together (where you could sign your book(s).) You need to have your horizons expanded. 😉
I’m a fan of Lincoln Square, and especially their pancakes and waffles. However, a wider debate about the best breakfast places in the Indy metro area could result in family feuds and friendships torn asunder. Not sure we are ready for that level of chaos.

Not worried about Lloyd Ruby (public schools) - tell me how Rick Mears (the pvt schools) are comparing(?) Charter schools are playing in a different league now, no?
When it comes to SAT college-readiness benchmarks, the top 8 (and 11 of the top 12) public high schools within IPS boundaries are charter schools.

Random thought for the day: 🤔 Will AI make my friends who have these incredible "junk brains" (my term) that enable them to remember an usually large amount of interesting (and sometimes worthless) facts, somehow less impressive in the future? 🤔 I hope not, but ...

You have a circle of friends who speak up for you in rooms you're not in; who you communicate with regularly by phone or in person; who make you laugh; who cover a wide stratosphere of jobs, income, upbringing, and cultures if possible.
You don't need to be rich to win at life. Here's what winning actually looks like: • You track your net worth and monthly spending • Your car is paid off • Your kid(s) already have a 529 being funded • You see a $50 entree and order it anyway • You leave work at 3 pm on a Friday to pick up your kids from school • You coach your kids' soccer team • You eat a home-cooked meal at home 6 nights a week • You pay for airfare with points only What else?

One could also surmise (based on a small sample and unofficial review) that new home quality is FAR inferior to most older builds of similar sizes and neighborhoods. They may have been built with updated housing codes, but their quality is below code of quality and acceptance.
Replying to @Barchart
Builders have too much sitting unsold and they know it. Rate buydowns, free upgrades, closing cost help, they're doing whatever it takes right now. So a brand new home now costs less than a used one. First time that's ever happened.

Finnish scientists trucked in real forest dirt and grass and laid it over the gravel at four daycare yards. They let the kids dig around in it for a month. The blood tests came back with changes the researchers hadn’t expected to see so fast or so clear. The study ran at ten daycares in two Finnish cities with 75 kids aged three to five. Four of the yards got the forest treatment: about a tennis court worth of soil and grass laid over the gravel, plus planters and peat blocks the kids could dig and climb on. Three others stuck with their normal gravel yards. The last three were daycares where the kids were already visiting real forests every day. After one month, the variety of bacteria living on the kids’ skin shot up, and the kind that helps train the skin’s immune defenses jumped the most. Their gut bacteria started to look like the gut bacteria of the forest-visiting kids. Their blood showed more of the immune cells whose job is to keep the body from freaking out at harmless stuff like pollen and peanuts, and overall inflammation dropped. The kids on the plain gravel yards showed none of this. Childhood asthma in the US doubled between 1980 and 1995. Food allergies in kids jumped 50 percent between 1997 and 2011, then jumped another 50 percent between 2007 and 2021. And peanut allergies in one-year-olds tripled between 2001 and 2017. The Finnish researchers think one of the reasons is simple: kids today don’t get dirty enough. 37 percent of American preschoolers now spend an hour or less outside on a normal weekday. Their immune systems are getting trained in environments stripped of the bacteria humans have always lived around. Aki Sinkkonen, who led the study, put it in plain words: “It would be best if children could play in puddles and everyone could dig organic soil.” The Finnish government is now helping pay for daycares across the country to make the same changes.
We need to apologize to our ancestors.

Something I’ve noticed over time: As people rise in social status, they start filtering who they respond to, how quickly they respond, and how open they are, largely based on the other person’s status. And that bar keeps moving. The people who made the cut six months ago suddenly don’t anymore as their own status rises. Texts go unanswered, calls don’t get returned, and access changes. Eventually, their entire circle becomes a reflection of status, and not character. Without shared values or real connection - just proximity to perceived importance. At some point, you’re no longer choosing people. You’re choosing status. And the reality is, the same people you chose for their status are doing the exact same thing. The second yours slips, they’re gone. And then, who’s left?

The older I get the less I perform for other people. No status games. No pretending to want things I don't. The right people respect that. The wrong ones drift away.
