PSA: get kids like this on a wrestling mat before they waste their lives
My son tried out for his high school basketball team three years in a row and got cut every time. He's a good kid, but he's five foot six and not very fast, and the third time it broke his heart. He'd practiced every single day that summer. He came home from the final cut list and went straight to his room. The next morning, the coach called our house and asked to talk to him. He said he had a problem.
Actually there’s a pretty obvious difference here but you’ve got to zoom in to see it (I screenshotted 3 photos to help)
You can’t help but feel awful for Kelly Clarkson, who was denied the opportunity to purchase an animatronic bird sculpture that cost more than three three months of my wages
What in the Harry Potter is a Seeker machine
When Marvin Harrison Jr. arrived in Arizona, he had one request: A Seeker machine, which runs $50k. The organization declined.
It proved to be a small but revealing moment. A full look at why this relationship failed and where it leaves the Cardinals:

LEGREE FOR THREE 🏈🏈🏈
With three scores, Oregon State's Jesse Legree has passed Ohio State's Jeremiah Smith for the FBS lead with 12 Rec TD this season!
The true freshman has recorded 100 Rec yds and a Rec TD in 6 straight games, the longest streak by an FBS player since Oklahoma's Dede Westbrook in 2016 (also 6).
Whatever happened to pure business men - men who knew how to look you in the eye, give a firm handshake, and close the deal? Nowadays it’s all about profit margins, equity calculations, assets and liabilities, cash flow statements, etc.
The nerds have ruined the game.
At some point, baseball has to get back to valuing ballplayers and not just numbers on a screen. Give me the Freddie Freemans, the Buster Poseys, Hunter Pences, Pablo Sandovals, Michael Youngs, Ian Kinslers of the world. Guys who just flat out know how to play the game. Everyone wants to talk launch angle and exit velo, but what happened to valuing a quality at bat?” The 9-pitch battle that might end in an out, but forces a pitcher to show everything he’s got.
The guy who hits behind the runner, takes what’s given, or just refuses to give a pitcher an easy inning. Those at-bats might not look sexy in the box score, but they show up in the 7th, 8th, and 9th. Some of these dudes could absolutely leave the yard too. That’s the point. They weren’t one-dimensional. Somewhere along the way, we confused measurable tools with knowing how to win baseball games.
I’m not against analytics or hitting the ball hard, but there is an art to winning that you can’t fully measure. We need more guys who know how to play baseball, not just hitters, not just athletes, ballplayers. And I promise you, those dudes never go out of style

Ryan Vilade has the Yankees on the brink of elimination with an opposite field home run in the Bronx.
Vilade’s first postseason homer with the Rays is one more than he ever hit with the Colorado Rockies in the regular season.

The Broncos’ offense is more mediocre than good and actually has been for some time.
People around the league think Broncos HC Sean Payton won't wait too much longer to take playcalling back from OC Davis Webb, per @DanGrazianoESPN
My gut said, "this is a Colorado Rockie" and while my gut wasn't correct, it wasn't wrong.
