Friendly reminder.
Reminder that all this apparently started because UMG Recordings couldn’t afford to pay Drake the money he rightfully earned. Instead of letting Drake explore his options elsewhere, they opted to promote a defamatory song in an effort to lower his market value.

To be abundantly clear, it is a crime in some states, including Virginia, to solicit people to file frivolous lawsuits containing maliciously false allegations against an opponent. In addition to 7 out of 8 plaintiffs never having had Stake accounts, the plaintiffs’ attorneys confused Stake dot com with Stake dot US - two different online platforms that operate differently. If the attorneys representing these plaintiffs knew the plaintiffs were solicited to file the frivolous lawsuits, knew the claims were false, failed to vet the claims, and agreed to represent them anyway, that is grounds for their bar licenses to be revoked and for them to face court sanctions. A few months ago, defendant Stake began the process of seeking sanctions against the plaintiffs and their attorneys for these baseless claims. We will provide an update on the outcome.

The Stake lawsuit filed in Virginia, which has since been terminated, seemed fishy from day one.

This excerpt from the complaint is why we question if it is being financed by others. What interest do two civilians who aren’t musicians or music label executives have in alleged “fabrication of popularity” and “[disparagement] of competitors and music label executives”? Which music label executives are being disparaged? Which competitors of Drake are being disparaged to make this a fact-based pleading? Name them🤨

It’s obvious. Including “disparaging competitors and music label executives” gave away who is possibly encouraging/funding the filing of these lawsuits. If someone were to hire investigators to trace the origin of these suits, it would probably lead to a certain record label.

Hip-hop’s decline in market performance means less investment and interest by labels. This was always going to be the end result of trying to oust the guy who fed the genre for 15 years through collaborations with other rappers. It seems very few saw the bigger picture when deciding to champion a song that falsely labeled hip-hop’s main revenue generator a pedophile.

With this being the fourth consecutive frivolous lawsuit to be tossed, we hope the pattern is obvious. These cases waste the courts’ time and are total nonsense. They’re being filed not to seek justice but to generate bad press for Drake, as you can see from the numerous media outlets that reported the filing in January 2026. It’s the most blatant display of a smear campaign.
📣 Update: A December 2025 Virginia class-action lawsuit accusing Stake of operating an “illegal online casino” whose funds were used to inflate Drake’s music streams and disparage his competitors has been terminated by a federal judge. The judge ruled that one of the eight plaintiffs signed an enforceable arbitration agreement with Stake on August 15, 2025, that waives the right to sue and requires disputes to be resolved through arbitration. The remaining seven plaintiffs did not have Stake accounts, never used Stake’s services, and had no right to sue. No discovery occurred, and none of the allegations in the complaint were proven true. This is a legal win for defendants Stake, Kick Streaming, Drake, Adin Ross, and George Nguyen.

It’s our belief that Roc Nation has some involvement in the recent lawsuits and string of bad press surrounding Stake and Drake. Roc Nation has faced previous accusations that it participated in a scheme where money was offered to file frivolous lawsuits against an opponent. Roc Nation’s fixation on Drake’s business partnership with Stake first became apparent when its attorneys deposed third-parties about Drake’s Stake deal. This was done through a lawsuit that had nothing to do with Stake, Drake or gambling. For now, there is nothing that substantiates our belief is true and it could all just be coincidence.

As we’ve stated before, many of the talking points in the aftermath of the 2024 “rap battle” didn’t originate out of thin air. We’ve seen screenshots of music label executives in group chats with X accounts that post ridiculous & false narratives about Drake, daily.
It’s the executives who were seeding many of these narratives online. You have bozos like Tim Hinshaw, formerly at Amazon Music and the organizer of Kendrick Lamar’s ‘Pop Out’ show, posting things like this. His entire feed reads like a stan account.

A few months ago, Jay-Z scoffed at the idea that his choice of Kendrick Lamar for the 2025 Super Bowl halftime show was personal. He claimed he simply picked the artist who had the “hottest year.” At the time of his selection, Kendrick Lamar had no album out, only four Drake diss tracks, including the defamatory “Not Like Us,” which he performed during the show. Today, photos show Jay-Z grinning ear-to-ear alongside Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith. Tiffith, Kendrick Lamar’s former label head, runs Top Dawg Entertainment, which has a long-standing joint partnership and distribution deal with Interscope Records (under UMG). Drake’s lawsuit alleges UMG leveraged its personal relationships and provided financial benefits to Roc Nation for Kendrick Lamar’s performance.

The photos of Tiffith and Jay-Z could just be two individuals in the music industry sharing a moment and maybe Jay-Z’s decision wasn’t personal. Who knows? Time will tell.

Not the first time iHeartMedia has settled after facing allegations of payola. In February 2025, iHeartMedia settled with Drake after he filed a petition accusing UMG Recordings and iHeartMedia of using payola to inflate the success of “Not Like Us”.
