The next 5 days will be hot for inland areas, with triple digit temps likely Fri & Sat afternoon for the Portland/Vancouver metro, Cascade foothills & much of the Willamette Valley. Overnight low temperatures will also be running rather warm, offering minimal relief at night.

ALT Map and infographic from NWS Portland about an extreme heat event. The map shows Oregon and southwest Washington state, with the Willamette Valley and a large portion of southern Oregon highlighted in magenta for an Extreme Heat Warning. Areas to the west and east of the warning zone are highlighted in orange for a Heat Advisory. The key in the upper right indicates a third, brown-colored area for an Extreme Heat Watch in parts of Oregon. The text provides details: The extreme heat is in effect from 11 AM PDT Friday, August 22, to 5 AM PDT Tuesday, August 26, 2025. It also provides preparedness actions, including staying hydrated, taking frequent breaks from the heat, and checking on vulnerable people.

DID YOU KNOW: June, July, and August are peak months for fires started by smoking. Many smoking-related fires begin on home patios, balconies, or porches.
When discarding butts, use a deep, sturdy ashtray or metal container filled with sand.
