🚨 Senate Democrats today passed their unpopular bill to manipulate the gas tax referendum election. Now it goes to the House.
Every Republican voted NO, standing with Oregon taxpayers every step of the way.
Voters should remember who had their backs and who sold them out.
“It is unfathomable to me the grief and sadness that has descended on the community of Bend today. While we await the details, my prayers go out for the parents, families, and friends of the victims and those injured.” — Senate Republican Leader Bruce Starr (R-Dundee)
Senate Republican Leader Bruce Starr (R-Dundee) released the following statement in response to reports that Senator Janeen Sollman was verbally and physically accosted by a constituent at a public forum in Forest Grove:
“The reports that Senator Janeen Sollman was accosted during a recent public forum are deeply concerning. Under no circumstances should political violence, threats, intimidation, and physical confrontation be accepted in Oregon’s public square.
The kind of political intimidation and assault leveled toward Senator Sollman is unacceptable.
Senator Sollman and I have our share of policy disagreements, but those disagreements are part of representative government. They should never become personal, and they should never become physical. We can debate ideas with passion while treating one another with dignity and respect.
Our political climate has become increasingly polarized, and all of us have a responsibility to help lower the temperature. We must reject violence and intimidation regardless of who the victim is or what political party they belong to. As elected officials, we should model civility. As citizens, we should extend one another the same grace we hope to receive ourselves.
Our democratic republic is strongest when we compete with ideas, not anger; with conviction, not contempt; and with respect for every person's dignity, even when we disagree. That is the Oregon we should all work to build together.”
From funding to accountability to the future of Oregon’s transportation system, Senate Republican Leader Bruce Starr covers it all in his latest podcast appearance.

Imagine you’re the governor, and kids in your state are struggling to succeed in school more than the kids in almost every other state.
Now imagine you could give them the opportunity to access more resources to help them succeed, at no cost to Oregon taxpayers and with zero negative impact on public school funding.
Would you do it?
Obviously.
Well, Tina Kotek had that choice.
She said no.

Gov. Kotek set a public goal of 36,000 new homes a year. In 2024, Oregon permitted 14,621 — less than 40% of that target. This clip asks the obvious question: if housing is the priority, why are we moving backward?
Oregon is now 42nd in CNBC’s Top States for Business rankings after sitting at 18th just four years ago.
Quite the report card for @TinaKotek’s economic agenda.
On Flag Day, we honor the banner of the greatest nation on Earth and the generations of Americans who have defended the freedoms it represents.
Happy Flag Day, Oregon 🇺🇸
.@TinaKotek's administration made $2.5 BILLION in accounting errors in 2025 alone. Accountability starts at the top. Kotek needs to answer for this.

This Memorial Day, we honor the great Americans who paid the highest price in defense of our nation. Their sacrifice will never be forgotten. 🇺🇸 #MemorialDay
An 83%-16% defeat is a mandate @TinaKotek and her Democrat Supermajority better follow. All Oregonians are asking for is for their government to stop making life more expensive.
We hear you, and we’ll keep fighting to make Oregon affordable again.
Today's state revenue forecast made one thing clear: state government is doing just fine financially. Working families are not.
Oregonians are paying some of the highest gas and energy prices in the country because of poor decisions made by politicians in Salem over the last 10+ years.
Republicans are ready to lower your costs today. But the party in power wants even more taxes and mandates that will raise them even further.

Wow. Voters are absolutely massacring Tina Kotek’s signature gas tax hike.

Another difficult result for Oregon Democrats: a repeal of the state’s gas tax increase from 40 to 46 cents is currently leading 82-18.
Conservative opponents placed the repeal on the ballot after Democrats, led by Governor Tina Kotek, approved the increase.
🗳️ Today is Oregon’s Primary Election. Too many people complain about the direction of the state and never vote. Don’t be one of them.
Oregonians are clear about what they expect for their tax dollars: safe roads, maintained highways, and repaired bridges.
Over time, ODOT has been tasked with more and more while the basics fell behind.
Then came $4.3B in new taxes for services many taxpayers believe should already be covered.
Taxpayers said no and forced the issue to the ballot. Now they'll decide in a matter of days.
Senate Republican Leader Bruce Starr (R-Dundee) is clear about what comes next: refocus state government on core responsibilities and stop asking already-stretched taxpayers to pay for mission creep.
