ONE PIECE Netflix Live Action — 2023 Recap
We gathered here some of the biggest and coolest things that happened in our community during this year.
Let's take a moment to remember what happened in 2023 and look forward to 2024!
Happy New Year! 🥂 🍾

Steve Maeda discussed Netflix's choice to renew OPLA Seasons 2 and 3 together and the reasoning behind it. One reason was to avoid aging the cast, and another was to cut down the multi-year wait between releases. We wish this were more common so we could get more seasons quicker.
Did you know there were 3 versions of Netflix's One Piece Live Action? It started with 10 episodes, got cut to 8 due to budget, but Oda disliked the changes. Netflix then added more budget which got us to today's final version!

One Piece WGA page has been updated, and we can now see "Season 4" on the main page. There appears to be a mistake, as the credit for S4 has gone to "The Simpsons" team (It seems their page was updated simultaneously with OP's, leading to identical names being copied and pasted).

WGA update: OPLA Season 4 is currently being written. HOWEVER, this does NOT guarantee a greenlight, as shows can still be cancelled after scripts are finished. Even so, it is a positive sign that production intends to continue. More info below👇

OPLA S3's WGA page was updated, and now we have access to S3 EP titles. However, except for EP 1 ("Where There 's Smoke"), the order is not confirmed and it has only been listed like this for this post. Source: apps.wga.org/coveredprojects… (type "One Piece")
WGA also has added SEASON 4 to the profile of each writer still involved with the show directories.wga.org/project/…. So far, this seems to be the current writers' room:
Joe Tracz
Ian Stokes
Elizabeth A. Hunter
Ashley Wigfield
Grainne Godfree
Alex Regnery
Randy Troy
Season 3's WGA page was opened during February 2025 (speculation about it began in January). Filming began in November 2025. Based on this, if S4 gets greenlit, filming might not take place for at least 9-11 months from now.
