For over 14 years this combo has won us 5 league titles, 1 Division 1 title, Louis Edem and Crown Elite 1 title each, 1 FIBA Africa Zone 3 championship, BAL third place finish and much more. Two of the best from both worlds (Management /Coaching). #TheKingsMen

The leadership & culture of this basketball club is amazing. Nobody wants all the credit. Everyone shares. I can think of some clubs who need to learn from this. A club like Rivers Hoopers built on family principles will outperform cult of personality clubs built on exploitation.

And to other members of the backroom staff, you all were amazing right from the league last year when we won, after and also helped us in preparation for the BAL. You all played key roles to our success even those who didn't make it to this list you all were part of our success

Today I travelled to Lagos State Nigeria to receive the @RiversHoopers Basketball Club back from Kigali, Rwanda where the finals of BAL season 4 took place. History has been made! Rivers Hoopers, the third best team in Africa at the Basketball Africa League (BAL) season 4, 2024. Odaudu the coach, won the 2024 BAL Coach of the year! A double win! This clearly demonstrates that sports development is beyond the Federal Government. Rivers State has clearly demonstrated that every state has huge potential in sports that brings Glory to our Nation. They have committed to evolving and we see it.They have brought immense pride to our nation. For the first time in BAL history , we won a Bronze medal, we made it to the top three, the best days are ahead for basketball in our nation. The flag of our Country was raised and we thank the Rivers Hoopers. We celebrate our players , our hero’s, our stars, our champions, God bless you. We will keep giving you the needed backing as the Federal Ministry of Sports Development. Congratulations and Welcome back home.Do not relent, do not settle, come back the best version of your selves. #RenewedHope #visionaryJOE

Delighted to have one of Nigeria's best singers and songwriters @adekunleGOLD , AG baby, to our practice today. Our players also made him take a free throw. Did it go in or not? #TheBAL #BAL4 #TheKingsMen #HoopersNation

Today, I received in audience the Chief of Army Staff, Lt Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja and his team. It was a time to ask for the total support of the military in ensuring peace and security in our dear state. I also played host to the Rivers Hoopers Basketball Club, winners of the Louis Edem Basketball International Championship. To encourage sports development, I made an endowment to the team. – at Port Harcourt, Nigeria
