Thank you @FCEFoundation for making my math heart so happy today 😄 Kicked off the @NCTM conference with two inspiring sessions! @MeridianMstangs @jenderoso
White boards are UP and we’re LOVING them in Ms. Peters’ classroom 🙌🏻 😍. Thank you @FCCPSFacilities for making this happen!! Alg 1 students are crushing a thin-sliced task (credit: @JJaysonMath!) on simplifying rational expressions. #ThinkingClassroom @mehms
There’s no case of the sluggish Mondays when you start the first block of the day with some vertical tasks! Ms. Peters’ Honors Alg 1 class came ready to work through some SPICY factoring problems! #ThinkingClassrooms @mehms @MeridianMstangs

Congrats to these two state-wide math presenters for leading a #VCTM interactive session with great discussion on engaging learners and raising the rigor in mathematics! #thinkingclassrooms @FCCPS @peternoonan @JJaysonMath
Thin-sliced some tasks on right triangle trigonometry in Mr. Wright’s IB Math AI SL 1 class to assess their prior knowledge before we dive into our new trig unit. They did some awesome work and gave us great insights for the unit! #ThinkingClassroom @FCCPS
“Can you give us a SUPER spicy problem??”
“Wait! Can I PLEASE finish this one before we move on?!”
Quotes from @JJaysonMath’s Algebra 1 class. Makes my math heart so happy! 😁 #thinkingclassroom @FCCPS @pgliljedahl
It is truly amazing to see how FAST the students start the task and thoroughly complete the task (that doesn’t even ask a question!) in a #ThinkingClassroom. @JJaysonMath has established fantastic BTC routines and these Algebra 1 students are thriving 🤩 @FCCPS @MeridianMstangs

We had so much fun learning about hints, extensions and consolidation during our #buildingthinkingclassrooms book study meet up this afternoon! We were even able to discuss it in context-visibly seeing the thinking of @JJaysonMath’s Algebra 1 students from class today! @FCCPS

I loved visiting @alcokee and Mr. Wright’s IB math classes this week to see their #thinkingclassrooms where students were collaboratively solving rigorous problems on our freshly painted white board walls. Thank you @FCCPSFacilities! @pgliljedahl
Kicked off the week in the best way - vertical math tasks with random grouping! Ms. Peters’s Algebra 1 students brought some amazing prior knowledge and collaborative thinking to day one of their next unit! Thank you for letting me join! #ThinkingClassroom @mehms @FCCPS

Loving this vertical, collaborative work in @alcokee’s IB Math AA HL 2 #ThinkingClassroom !! @MeridianMstangs
Well said! The work we’ve started with #ThinkingClassrooms in our district is already having incredible effects. I got goosebumps sitting in this session because of how excited I am about this revolution! #NCSM22 @MathEdLeaders
It's a math revolution. Building Thinking Classrooms. If you don't have Peter Liljedahl in your life. Run to the nearest bookstore. @pgliljedahl #NCSM22
Thanks to the @FCEFoundation I finally got to sit in for my first time in person to hear @steve_leinwand speak! High school math should be INVIGORATING and I appreciated hearing how we can work to make that happen. @MathEdLeaders #NCSM2022
