This is a great article that really captures the difference between humanities student "scientists" and real scientists.

...and so it begins...
Replying to @neso_energy
@neso_energy has another Electricity Margin Notice in place for today... Shortfall 1840 MW for 3pm to 11pm today This is an unusually wide timeframe covering far more than just the evening peak So what's going on? Wind is set to be low dipping to 1700 MW at 6pm Solar will peak at 6758 MW at 1pm, be at 5882 MW at 3pm and zero from 7pm Interconnectors are nominated to export the max capacity of 8756 MW between 12:30pm and 2pm. Imports and then nominated to fall to 6285 MW at 3pm, 435 MW at 5pm and then flip to exports reaching 1979 MW between 6:30pm and 7pm. Exports are then set to fall, with the cables flipping to imports of 528 MW between 8:30pm and 9pm before heading back to export mode with exports reaching 1282 MW at 10:30pm which is the last available time right now Demand is forecast at 33,203 MW at 3pm, peaking for the evening at 33,940 MW at 7:30pm and then falling to 25,843 MW by 11pm The grid will be tightest between 5:30pm and 8pm where NESO will need imports to meet demand As before I expect NESO will turn to intraday SO-SO trades on the interconnectors to resolve this. It has been consistently buying back up to the cap for quite a large part of the past day and since 5:30am this morning I expect this will continue but I also expect the cap of 1500 MW in any settlement period to be breached. Again @Miatsf @mgshanks @AndrewBowie_MP @ClaireCoutinho @ColinMoynihanUK @griffitha @HarrietCross_MP @drlukeevans @ashley7fox @TiceRichard @cmackinlay @mattwridley @DavidGHFrost @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @afneil @mattotele @jonathan_leake @julietsamuel @energygovuk

We do so love it when people get schooled then block. But then, Ricky votes @UKLabour, so we can't say it's a surprise. For all of Ricky’s focus on how stupid people are, you wonder if he is over compensating.

Since Labour came into government, around £310 billion has been borrowed from July 2024 to August 2026. £18.3 billion borrowed in August 2026 alone. We have a record tax burden, yet the Labour government are bankrupting the country. At some point we must stop focusing on who needs to pay more tax and instead focus on where all of our tax money is going.

If ever you read one tweet that underlines @UKLabour’s unsuitability to govern, it’s this from @JonathanBrash.
He’s deleted the thread now, but my word. This explains an awful lot.

I've warned multiple times that @neso_energy's balancing tools are old and unreliable Todsy they announced an outage this morning for this morning with minimal notice Then they extended the outage Then they announced a full failure of the balancing IT system Seriously, when is @ofgem going to get a grip on underlying security and stop trusting NESO to get it right? Do we really need a fatal blackout for people to take notice?? @Miatsf @mgshanks @ClaireCoutinho @AndrewBowie_MP @griffitha @NJ_Timothy @TiceRichard @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @cmackinlay @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @mattotele @jonathan_leake @afneil @energygovuk @julietsamuel

Do so like it when people turn off replies! Of course, further in the paper, the detail emerges, and the limitations of its application are detailed, but don’t worry about that. Cherry picking at its finest!
Must be an Evangelical end times dream

Imagine you ran a business and the top 1% of your customers generated 30% of your income. And then you did everything to make them leave and never come back. Even though they funded your business, you didn’t like them because they were successful. So your business went bust.
Ahead of last year’s budget, over 80,000 people signed my petition calling for a Wealth Tax. A 2% Wealth Tax on assets over £10 million would raise £24 BILLION per year. I believe this is a way to raise crucial funds urgently needed to help tackle the cost-of-living crisis.

We do so like it when people reply then block. Make us think they just don't like their fragile egos challenged.

Siri, show us a tweet from an organisation that knows it was lucky not to lose control…
The Electricity Margin Notice (EMN) issued yesterday has now been withdrawn. Electricity supplies remained secure throughout and our control room continues to balance supply and demand across Great Britain.

Another deluded moron. Wants all the benefits of oil and gas and its derivatives, but none of the oil and gas at all. If they had any backbone, they would spurn electricity, modern medicine and any form of pharmaceuticals. But they don't. They just dwell and sit in their own piety. They don't even like to be challenged in their view. Some might say spineless...

Renewables are not cheap We started subsidising wind in 1990. Now instead of 15 year subsidies we're paying for 20 years We were told we had to subsidise wind and solar as they were immature technologies that needed support to develop Well it's been 36 years!! If a technology can't mature in 36 years there's something fundamentally w with it The reality is we will NEVER be able stop paying these subsidies Plus backup generation or storage Plus the extra grid connection costs as their energy density is so low Plus the extra balancing costs because of the weather based intermittency @Ed_Miliband is doubling down on a failing strategy that will embed high energy prices for another 2 DECADES Time for a rethink @AndyBurnhamGM @ClaireCoutinho @AndrewBowie_MP @griffitha @NJ_Timothy @HarrietCross_MP @DavidGHFrost @mattwridley @cmackinlay @Iromg @AllisonPearson @MerrynSW @EdConwaySky @mattotele @jonathan_leake @afneil
🚨NEW: Ed Miliband has just quietly announced the prices he is willing to pay in his next wind auction. And it's not good news... He has said he is willing to hand developers contracts that pay up to £120/MWh in today's money for offshore wind... £97/MWh for onshore wind... And an eye-watering £390+ for wave and tidal. For context, the electricity price was £72/MWh on average when Labour came to power just two years ago. There is no way they can meet their promise to cut energy bills by £300. The prices for intermittent renewables are not getting any cheaper - and on top you need to add on the cost of paying wind farms to switch off when it's too windy, the £100 billion+ to connect power generated hundreds of miles from where it’s needed, and expensive backup needed for when the wind doesn’t blow. All of those extra costs are already driving up your electricity bill. Ed Miliband should pause this auction until he finishes the work I started in the Department to calculate the true cost to the consumer of a renewable-dominated system. Our absolute priority must be to MAKE ELECTRICITY CHEAP!

We do so love when people comment and then block. Morden day cowardice. Still, this coward is also it too sharp, as he would know that the poles switch regularly. But then that's always the way with these people, they use scientific facts sparingly! And in answer to the question on temperature, yes, it is corrected and located within a heat island, so there is that, we suppose.

No wonder this idiot turns off comments. The public sector already bloated and with productivity falling quicker than at any time, she heralds further non productive costs. More proof, if any were needed, that @UKLabour isn't working for the country, but the unions. @JohannaBaxter - you're a disgrace.
The decision by @RachelReevesMP to increase the tax free mileage rate will make a massive difference to frontline public sector workers. I was proud to welcome it in the chamber yesterday 👇

Banning fracking and drilling in the North Sea is probably an even worse decision than Germany's closure of its nuclear power plants. Energy suicide.

The Government said they reduced the indexation rate for renewables because they'd been over-compensated. That's not even half the story. New analysis shows wind farms have already received more in subsidy than the build cost, enriching overseas investors. A thread (1/n)

Well done @UKLabour and @RachelReevesMP Has the penny dropped yet that business and the private sector drives economic growth... Clobber them and you clobber the economy You have managed to increase both taxes and borrowing to record levels and for what?? A nation on benefits
🚨Two UK pub chains axed along with 3,500 jobs amid rising taxes Whitbread, which owns both Beefeater and Brewers Fayre, plans to close all 197 of its restaurant sites. CEO Dominic Paul said the decision followed “significant cost increases”, which includes higher employer National Insurance contributions and business rates. Reeves' relentless pursuit of businesses' money is ruining our economy! Rachel Reeves is decimating business and jobs.

Interesting that @Ed_Miliband deleted his tweet about it being immoral for oil companies to "profit from the crisis" Like the rest of this @UKLabour government, he wants the private sector to put capital at risk, for it to swallow any losses that arise, but to tax into oblivion any profits they make This asymmetry is a major factor in the reluctance of firms to invest in the UK, with some now claiming parts of Africa have a more stable fiscal and regulatory regime than we do Meanwhile Labour wonders why the economy is failing to grow agcc.co.uk/news-article/agcc…
