It's time to take this to the next level.
Me and a few mates are working on a psuedo - LWS (Light wallet server), think lightwalletd meets WalletConnect to enable another option for Zcash users to interact and engage with the ecosystem.
The plan is to prototype the API via a working on chain Chat messenger, paid for in $ZEC. Shielded of course. Why chat? Because the next thing they will control you for, after the financial control, is your social profile (check latest EU legislations in the pipeline for 2026 for example, or X exposing user locations, and what Mark Zuckerberg does with FB and Insta).
Significant number of people will pivot to privacy.
This should open the doors to DApps and other smart contract style interactions on the Zcash protocol.
Potentially can be scaled to host DeFi apps, routers, oracles, and what not, give or take.
Entirely self funded by me and some friends at this stage. May reach out for support to active Zcash grants programs or VCs if they see the value in this. Although prefer to keep it decentralized rather than concentrated. One other option is to tokenize this on $SOL, bring in the community and crowd fund this project for the long term. Incentivize holders with $ZEC rewards or native token rewards. Yet to be decided.

The SEC just proposed new crypto regulation.
Since the ICO boom of 2017, token-based fundraising in the US has lacked regulations. "Reg Crypto" would change that. Grayscale Research believes this could bring more token offerings onchain, driving value to networks like @ethereum $ETH, @solana $SOL, and @BNBCHAIN $BNB.

THE BLOCK: Grayscale's latest Zcash ETF amendment reveals that DCG is in discussions to contribute ~200,000 ZEC to the fund, though the potential transaction is nonbinding.
The filing also details the June Orchard vulnerability and subsequent Ironwood upgrade, which retired the affected shielded pool and introduced safeguards against counterfeit zcash:native.

Neptune, uses a Merkle Mountain Range Accumulator to represent the set of all UTXOs. Both spendable and unspendable.
New UTXOs are added to the accumulator.

We’re adding Zcash coinholder polling in @zodl_app with the first poll targeted for June.
Soon, anyone using Zodl will be able to share their opinion on the direction of the Zcash protocol by voting their coins. The voting protocol will also be available for integration with other shielded ZEC wallets.
