chloe slid the headphones on, her eyes closing for a second as she took in the rhythm. she sang along, harmonizing with beca’s voice. when the song finished, she removed the headphone & grabbed another slice of pizza. “we’re gonna 𝙙𝙚𝙨𝙩𝙧𝙤𝙮 the competition this year.”

chloes face turned as red as her hair, & she turned her head—pretending to look at something else to play it off. “told you,” she joked, taking another bite of her pizza. “hey—can you play the track for me again?”

about damn time.

“i 𝙙𝙤 love sex—but i stand by what i said. pizza trumps sex,” she took the drink, offering a grateful smile before stuffing her mouth with pizza.

“coke, please,” she smiled as she opened the pizza boxes, a satisfied groan emitting from her when the smell hit her nostrils. “is there anything better than pizza? i don’t even think sex trumps pizza.”

she raised an eyebrow, a playful smile pulling at her lips. “m’lady, huh? i could get used to that,” she snickered before resuming their walk back to becas dorm. when they got there, chloe immediately kicked her shoes off & made herself comfortable—as she always did.

“beca mitchell,” she smirked down at the shorter girl. “i swear, sometimes i could kiss you.” oof. did she really just say that? thankfully, she was saved by the bell—& by bell, she meant the pizza boy calling her name & telling her their order was ready.

chloe had caught it, but she let it slide—not wanting beca to be embarrassed. truth be told, it sent off a flurry of butterflies in her stomach. “we can take turns,” she said, stepping aside to wait for their order. “or you can get us dessert.”

“nah,” she shook her head. “he seems like he’s got a lot to live for,” she snorted; homeboy looked like he’d rather be anywhere but there. “also, i’m paying this time—you treated last time,” she said, quickly stepping up to order & pay for their food.

“i don’t think you’d need dynamite; i feel like if you glared at anything hard enough—it would explode.” chloe giggled, turning the corner & walking up to the pizza place.

“i don’t know if it’ll ever not be a shit show, but that’s what makes it special,” she said—always the optimist. “it wouldn’t be as fun if we didn’t run into a few road blocks, ya know?”

chloe sent a quick text to aubrey, letting her know she wouldn’t be in until late. she kept her hands at her sides as she walked, her face flushing bright red anytime she’d feel her skin brush against becas. “so are you excited? for regionals?”

“definitely. we’re gonna 𝙠𝙞𝙡𝙡 regionals with that. you’re pretty awesome, you know that?” beca started speaking her love language—food. “i would kill for a pizza right now.”

chloe averted her eyes, realizing she looked like a psychopath. “no, it’s perfect,” she glanced back over, her smile never leaving her face.

of course chloe had been staring—it was hard to 𝙣𝙤𝙩 catch her staring. she did it often, with the very same little brunette. she listened to the track, & raised an eyebrow—impressed, as always. “it’s 𝙧𝙚𝙖𝙡𝙡𝙮 good, beca.”
